Although I am not new to mechwarrior, my experience is about 12 years old, me I am 54 years old! I loved this game this first time I played the stand alone computer game but after a while tired with it as it isn't hard to learn to beat the computer.

I am not well educated in the lore, factions, houses and all that and don't know if I need to be but I would like to join in somewhere but where? Is it really that important which house your in? When it comes to gameplay will it really matter in the long run? Will it change how I earn c-bills or XP points?

It seems that no matter where you are there will always be a battle to be won or lost, right?

Can I join a brigade or legion and not be a member of the same house or faction, is it better to be a "lone wolf" for a while or is it better to join the mercs?

What are your thoughts ?

Best thing you can do is find some friends. I'd go lone wolf for awhile, meet some people you like and go from there. Community and friends is what makes this game great... You could just throw a dart at a spot in the innersphere, but you'll be recruited eventually... if you keep dropping with a guy, and you seem to cover eachothers butts without asking, end up playing at the same time... make a friend.

Battletech is about Friends.

Its even better than Ponies.

You need to find yourself a Clan of fellow gamers/family/friends.

Invest in friendship/trust/and fun, across multiple games not only this one and you will never have to play a game alone.

There's several Clan's recruiting in the CLan section so take a look there. Look for the ones with a nice description and VOIP requirement.

Good luck man.

I played Americas Army online for a while, no one I knew played but met a lot of folks there and got recruited, so I am thinking this is good advice, just stay "lone wolf" and drop in and play a while until I meet some folks I like and wait for the recruitment :(
