I could be off on the tonage, it has been a while since i played with all these mechs.. feel free to correct me where i am mistaken..
First off, Is the new thunderbolt, suppose to be a Thor? It kinda reminds me of one, but seems lighter, and looks a bit different than the classic i remember.
Bushwacker. Was a 55 ton mech, that you could load AC's and LRM's, i think it even had room for energy, and perhaps machine guns. Was a bit stout mech with decent armor that i really enjoyed.
(for get the name, But this was a huge assault that could carry AC'10's thing was just an A monster.. I think you fought it in an early mission, and earned one much later in the game) Mech 3,
Puma, 30 tons? This was a dual PPC mech, that was very fast, and short. It had large armor wrapped round it's sides protecting it's arm, and head. One tough mech that only legging was a good option to take it down.
Cougar, 40 tons?? this was a clanner mech, Had LRM's or SRM's and lasers.. Very fast, and hit hard from long range.
Hollander, 45 tons..Nothing says bad arse mech like a giant Gauss rifle on your shoulder. medium up weight, fast long range support.
Uler, 35 tons A light weight, AC 2 machine. Was always a fun fast ranged mech, with some beefy support.. reminds me a bit of a raven..

That's when it was mass produced if I remember correctly, they did have prototypes in 3050 though but suffered from technical issues and were about to be scrapped until the IS reversed engineered Clan tech based off the Mad dog.

And the monster mech you're talking about is probably the Annihilator.

The monster mech you are referring to does sound like an Annihilator. It fits well in its weight class, but the current meta of the game would make an assault with 4 separate ballistic hardpoints way OP. I think its stock config of 4 lb10x ACs would dominate just about any other build in the game. Don't hold your breath on this one coming soon.
Clan mechs are coming starting in June. Puma and Uller are part of that package, but I think the Cougar is a few years away yet.

Why does this matter? They've basically abandoned the original timeline, and even if they hadn't it's not like they're operating under some moral imperative not to make exceptions. The question is whether the bushwhacker would fill any currently-empty niches, or compliment any particular existing mech. Basically, what's best for the game should always trump sticking strictly to canon.

YouTube, my friend. That TV show was what got me into battletech/mechwarrior years ago. There was only 1 season, and I think every episode is on youtube, but be warned: it hasn't aged well.

Like most cartoons from the early 90s?
I would however love if they made a modern day cartoon/live action series of it, but instead of the Clan invasion they made it about the early Succession Wars. Bring on Game of Thrones in space.

Thunderbolt is a legit mech and wasn't based off the Thor, in fact I'd say the opposite as Thunderbolt was created before Thor.
Puma/Adder is 35 tons. Cougar is 35 tons. Uller/Kit Fox is 30 tons. Hollander 1 is 35 tons, Hollander 2 is 45 tons.
Bushwacker would be a nice little mech for the mediums, though if anything we need balance to our already here mechs and CW and stuff like that.
