wow JUST WOW ! The price of mechs reminds me of how greedy and uncaring we are to each other. I remember playing for fun with friends. when did our gaming turn into a dashboard profit statement over fun. congrats karma sure has use for you.

Ever buy and Table Top pen and paper rpg books? Hardbacks range from 35$-60$, paperbacks from 15$-30$. Over all MWO has one of the fairer Free to Play models for supporting the game, stuff we buy either reduces grind, or is cosmetic. I personally like the "founders" packages as they feel more like buying an expansion pack for the game every year.

I use the rpg book example since that's where MW/BT has it's start, all TROs, mission books, and advanced rule books cost a fair amount of money to get.

I feel sorry for young kids today that want to play games like this with their friends there is no excuse for this type of greed. games should cost money yes but parting out the game for more and more money so the children cant keep up and play is shameful and teaching kids that its not about competition but greed and money = winning. That maybe a reality for those here but its not whats right you can still make a profit and do the right thing. I hope those who make this trash are visited by karma in their life and have to pay through the nose.

Sounds to me like somebody has neither understanding how business works nor experience playing tabletop games with miniatures. Toys have never been free unless you make them yourself.

Pretty sure op had parents that paid everything for him so of course he is shocked at the prices...then again I too feel this game is way over priced for what it offers which is very little.

Gaming has always been expensive it's a choice though. If you have the patience you can buy a lot of those consoles for cheap I have almost all of them, and games to go with them but I am not a collector. I budget myself.

If these young kids have a PC that is capable of running the game and a broadband internet connection, this game is absolutely free to play. Nothing you can buy for real money makes any difference in your ability to compete.

Here's an idea, download the game and install it... For free
Play the trial mechs, for free
Continue to do so until next year when the clans come out, for free.
Then, spend your saved up cbills on the clan mechs when they are released.

Yeah, they are greedy, aren't they. The audacity of charging in advance for a pack that gets prime versions.

An irrelevant statement to the discussion at hand.

And to answer the question anyway, only if they threaten me first.

False Analogy. Deal with the Clan price, they already made it cheaper once. (Gold mechs were $500 solo, now they include $240 Masakari Pack, which means $260 for Gold mech. A-la-carte also here, $180 max for any 6 clan mechs you want.)

The price of Clan mechs is also irrelevant, because they will all eventually be free as well. The upfront cost is merely for early access.

All of those things take physical materials to create. Every miniature requires it's own specific cast and every book has to be printed out and assembled and even then the prices are heavily marked up. Physical copies also have the benefit of retaining their value.

This is pure unadulterated greed. Given the tools this community could easily come up with its own skins for free. I've never seen a $500 price tag for anything within a game. I've heard of accounts that have rare or unique items in other games being sold for that much but I've never heard of something from a game store even costing half that amount.

There is no argument for this price. You can buy a AAA game for $50 with thousands of more man hours put into it compared to these skins or mechs.

Oh, so programmers and devs that work for PGI don't need food? Or homes? Don't have families to provide for? Servers maintain themselves? Electricity and net access is free?

Yeah, this isn't one of those ignorant, short sighted rants that spoiled man-children whip out, not at all. :|

Do they also need to **** gold and wipe with twenties? What argument are you trying to make? That it shouldn't be free? Ok, so what does that have to do with the incredibly absurd prices they're currently charging? I'm pretty sure there's a middle ground between free and completely ********.

Anyone new who sees the $240 price for the total package is just going to turn away. Just the ability to spend that kind of money on a game is a turnoff to the vast majority of people. This is a stupid move but not a surprising one.
