Ok.
That's weird!

Let me show you this and help me understand...

Watch carefully this video from NGNG.

As you can see, the video is quite cool, but one thing break the immersion: when the mech moves in the water there are no "splash" effects.

A lot of people asked for this small graphic/effects improvements, without luck.

Now look closely at the last secs of the video (from around 1:17 min).

Did you see what i saw when the camera goes underwater?

Yes! Splash effects! A stream of air and foam appear below the surface!

Now i'm asking myself, if you take that exact same effect, and reverse it upside down, does not it works like a charm?

Why keep it under water? Were noone can see it? Why leaving the surface without effect, when you already have it?

And i don't think is about frame rate stability, because our graphic card already works to render it, so no matter if is above or below the surface.

Does anyone has an explanation that can clear my mind about this (IMHO) crazy choice?

(Just my guess here)

Could it be that's a left over default effect from the Cry Engine 3?

Not something put in by PGI, but left over from the default settings of the Cry Engine?

I can take that PGI has not implemented that by will, but it can be worked a bit and making it doable for the surface too.
Or not?

I don't know how hard it is to reverse it like you asked.

The biggest issues PGI is facing with Cry Engine 3, is how new it is. There are no experienced programmers for the engine. This is basically like modding a game. No one has done a game Mod off the Cry Engine 3 yet. PGI is the first. And anyone who does have skill or the knowledge they want, will NOT come cheap.

So basically we will just have to wait and see. I'm sure they are focused more on this upcoming patch.
