Here's my suggestion for NARC:

A.) Make it last it's whole duration. Ideally 30 seconds at least to let 2 volleys fly.

B.) Have it be seen and break through ECM cover. But just for the mech it's attached too.

C.) Rather then increasing lock on time and missile accuracy simply have all non locked missiles (dumb fired LRMs) fly to the NARC target.

Chaff and missile info module now making this beneficial development to LRM use and potential role invigoration less relevant.

I guess Mech Sniper Online is the future of MWO.
Chaff as a single use consumable will not make LRM's any less relevant than UAV's make ECM irrelevant. A missile lock warning as well isn't a huge deal - its actually a mixed bag, because if you move into cover whenever someone gets a missile lock guys with a pack of streaks will keep you pinned down from 800m.

Anyways, sniper warrior online? Hyperbole much? LRM's have nothing to do with reducing snipers, because they are about the least effective anti-sniper weapons no matter how good they are.

Not at all.

AC/PPC sniping in heavy/assault platforms is the dominant and confident Meta at the moment. Hence "Mech Sniper Online".

NARC buff AND counter to ECM? Oooooooohhhh... Is this how canadian heaven looks like?

Yep again we see how we are in opposite world.

ECM is suppose to disrupt Active Probes and NARC

Yet in opposite world ECM is disrupted by Active Probes and NARC.

I guess it's just easier to revolve and entire aspect of game play around a singularly over featured item rather than develop the other aspects of information warfare.

So instead of developing NARC as a highly effective target marking system we get a marginaly useful target marker and yet another half measured counter measure to the bloated ECM mechanics.

So I guess we can cross off information warfare from the list of cool stuff we were suppose to get.Everything will continue to serve the ECM monster.

PGI never can admit they are wrong. They only continue to apply half assed band-aide fixes that barely even work (ghost heat for example). :(

I would rather this than point and lock lrm warrior online.

i have to disagree - getting consistently good LRM damage is not easy, needs good teamwork and maneuvering. only doing point and lock would have your damage go all over the place.

but then, who could argue against the skill in flick-shot sniping like in any other FPS?? amiright??

The most beneficial idea is however the one where a number of roles are promoted with equal game play confidence, such that if it was the case that LRMs were the dominant Meta I would equally be concerned with that situation as well.

Striving to reduce the disparity of imbalanced Meta from what is represented in current game play is an attainable goal I believe even if the case of "perfect balance" is likely too much to hope for.

By promoting as much diversity in roles and game play options so that they retain their purpose and confidence on an equal footing means that more players are catered for and a more fuller experience of BT can be had from MWO with different options or tactics of a less predictable nature that we have now with the current game due to the dominance with Sniping meta with larger Mechs.

Having equal confidence with "options" simply means more appeal, more diversity, more rounded fun for different preferences, variable use of tactics and tech. I simply see this as more beneficial to a larger selection of interests than say exploring a niche option for a more select crowd that want MWO to play in only a limited way since it is a preference for their style of game play.

NARC should attract unlocked missiles while increasing LRM lockon/flight speed. ECM shielded targets dont get either bonus bam instantly fixed.

Has this happened yet? It's been "shortly after the Feb 4 patch"

I would still assume that it means "a regular scheduled patch shortly after Feb 4" so it could be the 18th of February, or the 4th of March.

In my humble opinion LRMs should not have their indirect fire "by observation" capability, lock should be possible only when direct observation is possible by default. Of course LRMs should be balanced to be effective under the above conditions.

Indirect fire should be possible through the use of NARC and TAG only.

In addition LRM lock should be possible also on vehicles not targeted but without targeting the lock should take more time to achieve, the ECM would make lock time even longer but not prevent it.

Nothing new, it is how older MW games did it and it worked.

We have the technology today to do this. Why wouldn't we have even better technology then? Be glad they don't make drones in MWO for me to fire with my LRMs that can choose what enemy target to hit on their own to set priorities I choose.

Cut the tonnage for NARC in half.

It's a fair trade for 1 SSRM, it's not worth two of them.

Just giving NARC the ability to make SRM become pseudo-streaks is worth its price in tonnage.

You still should feel that way.

These buffs are too little, too late, for the NARC; compounded by PGI's assault on missiles. The fact is unless the NARC gets a LOT more capable (Again, Living Legends amped the max range to 1000, gave it tracking at medium range, and made missiles home STRAIGHT in on the beacon if unlocked..) it is a terrible waste of tonnage.

The only other thing that could save NARC would be including Arrow IV and making it require a NARC hit to use. That'd be interesting.
