Looks good to me but I suck with that build, where I am lucky if I see 100+ damage. I do run a 10:1 torso armor ratio since that works on my other Jenner very well, but it is very unconventional. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b8ec2d44acb918f I actually see 300+ damage games and some kills.

That's a good build. I run a slightly modified version of that -- replace one Medium Laser with an extra Double Heat Sink. The extra heat dissipation allows you to fire more often.

Are two Jump Jets enough or should I shoot for more?

That's the standard build. Only change: get a DHS out of the engine. They pad crits elsewhere. I keep mine in the arms. Sucks to lose them, but sucks worse to lose guns.

Other options are 6SPL or 5ML as Durant (a better JR7 pilot than me) suggests. I usually run 6ML grouped 2/2/2 and fire four a lot of the time, six when I know I can make it count and afford the heat.

Two jump jets work fine on all maps. Hell, a lot of players run just one, but my brain hurts when I try to do that.

IMO, two are plenty. You'll be able to cross any canyon on Canyon Network with two and get pretty much anywhere useful. And cooling is the bigger issue.

EDIT: scooped!

Its a good build I can say if you only fire them in two wep groups it will be a bit hot in a duel with another light.

one thing i did to cut down on the heat a little is to take 3 ML out of one arm and replace them with 3 SPLs. end up with a 1.33 heat efficicency which is still a bit warm for me but works just fine. i find once my heat warning starts going i can still fire the SPLs a few more times on their own without overheating which can give me that last bit of pinpoint damage to finish that red torso/leg, while with MLs i'd be forced to chainfire them or overheat.

worse comes to worse i use my third weapon group to chainfire them all (one group for MLs, one group of SPLS). other than that i believe i use the exact same build. 2JJs is more than enough, most of my mechs don't have more than 1.

The 6 ML build is really hot. Without full elite efficiencies and/or much experience in heat management, expect to shut down accidentally in the middle of a fight, and usually die 2 seconds later. For leveling it up, I'd seriously consider 5 ML or even 4 ML with extra heat sinks.

While SPLs are more heat efficient, I find that the extra range you get with MLs helps to deal damage early on in the game when it's usually a bad idea to rush deep into the enemy deathblob.

I initially gave up on the JR7-F, because the heat management is so brutal, but after toughening up and getting them full elites it's much more tolerable. I only pilot the 6 ML loadout, using 2 weapon groups, 1 for alpha, and 1 for all lasers on chain fire, which I use when the heat is high and click just fast enough to keep the heat a bit over 90% until the encounter is over and I get to cool down. I'm a pretty mediocre pilot, but my stats show that in the 200+ matches I've played with the F, I've scored an average of 1.5 kills per match. That is better than any of my assaults. It's also got the best KDR of any of my mechs.

TLDR; It's good, but you need the full elites = you need to buy 2 other Jenners with it to get those. Before that it can be quite a pain.

I was running xl300, fiber, endo, DHS,6 mlas, 2jj, max armor. It's the pretty standard build, everyone plays in the F.

I went with an XL300, Endo, 6SPL, and 2 DHS. You're gonna have to get in closer that you would with MLs, but the shorter firing time works better with the twitch playstyle, imo. The rest of it is just how you pilot the thing. Be an opportunist. Hit and run.

I'm a terrible Jenner pilot, I don't have the patience to be a light pilot. Although I do want to try the machinegun spider. But yeah, I sold my F. My KDr in the Jenner was 0.40 lol.(only 15 games before I sold it.)

I won't spoil the fun of experimentation, but you can safely remove up to a ton of armor from that Jenner build without really affecting durability. An extra heatsink or pair of jumpjets can make a fairly noticeable difference. If streaks are bothering you, you can even toss in an AMS and keep a little range on your targets.
