But if you're looking to make c-bills, the Oxide is the best hero there is. XL295, 4SSRM/4tons, BAP. You'll get ridiculous amounts of damage (less kills than assists) and you'll likely pick up spotting and C-ECM assists, too.
That said, 3 of a chassis is quite helpful for improving performance, so TDK should get some consideration, IMO. It is a pretty high-skill mech, but it's a ton of fun.

Rumor has it we get a new 35 ton light Hero mech.
You may find you like it better than what's currently offered.

But, SRM hit detection is bugged to heck and the only alternative for the Oxide is SSRM boating or a tiny LRM boat. If either of those sound like your thing, go for the Oxide. Otherwise, get the X5. It can mount SSRMs just fine and the backup lasers keep you from turning into a wooden duck in an ECM cloud.

Excellent point.
One point in the X-5's favor: it comes mostly ready and you can run it with only minor tweaks. I run mine with an XL320, but the XL330 it includes works.
Oxide comes with a standard engine you'll need to replace with an expensive XL.

All heroes cost 75MC/ton, so it's guaranteed to be.

Both are pretty bad... Not really sure why you would want either.
For a cicada, the 3M is superior. For a Jenner, the D Variant is better.

Just to make sure, despite it already being mentioned:
Getting 3 of the same chassis and grinding full elite efficiencies (which doubles all basic efficiencies as well) is practically mandatory, if you want to do well in a mech. Especially if your mech of choice is a light. Speed tweak will boost your speed significantly, and double heat management basics, double agility basics as well as quick ignition will save you from many deaths - and greatly boost the amount of damage you can deal.
Maybe you have already grinded through 3 Commandos and decided that 2D is the one you want to keep, but that didn't come clear from your posts. IMO, Knell is easily the best of the Commandos, but requires you to be able to aim and keep the beams on target in high speeds, and some careful heat management.
Oxide is a one trick pony, but at least it does it's streak boating better than any other light. X-5 isn't bad by all means, but not really much different from a regular Jenner D, which is more nimble thanks to JJs. I, too, hope that the next week's hero light will be something worthwhile.

I agree with others, wait and see what develops next week(or today possibly).

However, the Oxide is also a fun ride as listed above; but to get the full potential you'll need two other Jenners, not sure if you have those.
I couldn't decide. So I got both.

The thing is though, when you put skilled pilots in them, the other Jenner variants will probably ruin the Oxide in a one on one fight, because since SSRM's started spreading damage, the other variants' ability to mount lasers actually gives them an advantage in killing light mechs.
This, of course, depends on your ability to actually use lasers effectively. If your gunnery skills are bad, then the Oxide may work better for you, but eventually you'll hit the glass ceiling that comes with using a fairly low skill weapon like streaks.
