If you haven't already, read

and http://mwomercs.com/...le-warfare-cont

Here is my quick and dirty take home lesson on role warfare.

The 4 Weight classes can each perform more than one role, but some are better than others at each role.

Roles might include
1) Scout - Fast speed, find the enemy locations, track enemy movements, share targeting data, TAG
2) Raider - medium/fast speed, short/medium range weaponry, hit and run tactics, anti-scout
3) Brawler - medium speed, medium to heavy armor, short/medium range weaponry, slug it out
4) Mobile Fire Support - medium/fast speed, medium/long range weapons, strike and move
5) Sniper - medium/slow speed and less armor for more punch, zone defense, long range weapons
6) Anchor - Slow, Heavy armor, mixed weapons, holds ground vs a dedicated offense, takes ground vs a dedicated defense

Light Roles - Scout, Raider, Brawler
Medium Roles - Scout, Raider, Brawler, Mobile Fire Support, Sniper
Heavy Roles - Brawler, Mobile fire Support, Sniper, Anchor
Assault Roles - Brawler, Mobile fire Support, Sniper, Anchor

Underlined roles are especially well performed by that weight class, imo.

This about roles in terms of capabilities - especially speed, armor, damage output, and effective weapon range.

As player unlock Skill Trees and gain Command abilities, I think we will see a lot of Snipers and Anchors also using command functions. Scouts might work, it depends on how distracting the command functions. I get the feeling that being too distracted while in a minimally armored mech traveling at high speeds might be bad. <_<

All depends on the game mechanics. Some commanders prefer being scouts.
