I like the idea of being able to vote for surrender/retreat if you are down to 50% of the enemy team's numbers and they are still above 6 mechs total. League has this feature (though it doesn't have the same setup obviously) and it is a good thing to have. Sometimes a fight is just lost.

I never consider any game a lost cause while there is oone mech left with weapons. It really ****** me off when you have people start chiding you to "Get it over" when your down by several and the last one left. The game isn't over till I'm done fighting. Sometimes you even win - I've pulled off a few lost causes before and those are the sweatest victories.

To my way of thinking, if they gave up on the drop they should do what I do when I'm dead and the drop looks like a lost cause, quit the drop. You still get the c-bills and experience you earned so leave already if you think it's a lost cause. You might miss an amazing come back but hey thats the breaks.

The 5 kill mercy rule as stated by the OP would be unwarranted. I have seen games swing by more than 5 points, and it's unfair to simply end combat when a team is up by 5 kills - it deprives people of XP, Cbills, and combat experience.

Did House Davion give up when Kurita was wamping on them during the first succession war? HELL NO!! The more I thought about this OP's idea, the more I want to drive around America slapping sense into whiny little kids who were raised on soccer games without score-keeping or winners/losers.
