Of note being able to swap out weapons is a tactical and sometimes strategic advantage. Being able to reconfigure to energy if ammo runs low still requires such weapons to be carried in excess of standard replacement parts by the logistical supply units. It is entirely possible dedicating extra weight, space, vehicles, and manpower to transport those weapons would be better served by bringing more ammo.

It can work to a defender's advantage if they have scattered supply depots. Such things are usually preplanned and serve standard Battlemechs just as well as Omnimechs.

Battle armor on Omnimechs is iffy at times. They act as potential ablative armor if still mounted (not something that makes such infantry happy) and torso weapons cannot be fired while they are mounted. That said, the benefits often outweigh the drawbacks, but this is the Inner Sphere we are talking about. Battle armor is a logistical discussion by itself. Even the Clans' infantry assets are not entirely composed of battle armor.
