There's trash talking and then there is just out and out honorless, self-boasting drivel. The kind of trash talking that ensues when one believes so highly of oneself, that the belief of everyone else's inferiority is relevant and should be pointed out. Namely certain groups of people who play in 12 mans who believe in the vernacular that "their shiiiiiii don't stink". These Loons like to stomp on other groups and even though there was no way that the match was close enjoy saying ggclose^TM. I won't name names, but denigrating other people is not trash talk, and can only be described as infantile at best.

I feel Thrash Talking is just a form of psycolocigal warfare, and that's cool.
I have seen StrataDragoon's trash talk and I haven't ever seen him use any profanity, buy I have seen those that replay to it get profain - so maybe it's working?!

I'm all for trash talking (not that I can do it - I feel it's an art I do not have), and it can get some positve results.

Its easy to say that trashtalking is acceptable when you're anonymous and unreachable over VoIP. However the fact is its unacceptable here as a norm and in society. So shall we move onto other more useful topics?

IMO if you get butthurt because someone said something ******** instead of ignoting him you are the problem. Ofcourse theres 1 game or random trashtalk and continued harassment on a single individual(which could be seen in a mmo not in a fps id think), and obviously this should be dealt with.

besides, trash talking/taunting is a valid strategy in war!

There is a difference between "trash" talking and being a moronic d#$k.

Talk like bad mouthing, cursing, berating, humiliating etc. has no place in the game.

Good natured taunting is great though.

Before a match starts I say a lot of things like "Stalker legs taste best fried. Are you sure you put enough armor on your back? I'm capping immediately. If you're alone, I will find you and kill you. Whoah! We have 6 spiders!?"
Anything to make it fun and keep people second guessing.

I agree with most: banter with friends is fine, you know them and how they react and know "how far you can go". With random strangers you have no idea, have the potential to make a comment that is truely devestating, aggrivating, etc.

But honestly, if I dont know you and you talk trash you had better be able to back it up. I am one of those people with a very strong definition of "friend" and "foe". One of the main reasons I hope they never introduce VOIP is that if they do, I will eventually send some poor kid crying to his mom, or make some middle-aged guy jump off of a bridge. It is pretty silly to get all worked up for a game and a bit of trash talk, but some people just dont know the limits and I have no issues with showing them what hell can be when they go beyond those limits. Guess that is just my termperment and the reason why I would rather not talk trash and just have a fun game.

Only douchebags who are insecure in themselfs talk trash. The guy with the biggest mouth is usually the biggest B I A T CH. kinda like the guys who tell grand stories about themselfs, no self esteem losers, who usually get knocked out because their all bark.

It's even more pathetic in a video game. Learn a little humility if you want people to take you seriously.

oh yeah, you would be so totes amaze at my mad skillz. lol

But even with an aimbot, my ping 300 +, makes it near impossible to hit. So Mech-busted, er I mean myth confirmed. I could not hit a mech with auto aim. (aimbot).



Last night was the first time in a long time my ping was just under 300. Thanks PGI. Forgot to set play mode #skirmish. tee hee. My manual aiming/leading skillz are a little OP.
