Yep, I continually launch against/with TeamTryhard and get failed-to-find because I'm terribad. I then take my JJ-mastered-moduled elo score, and rock trials to acceptable result because I'm super-terribad. Then I come on here, publicly post my scores, and offer a honest option to challenge yourselves while avoiding failed-to-find because I'm super-ultra-terribad.

Luckily you brought up that one time you did that one thing to validate your position.

...right right... "I run trials in an ALT but it's not trolling pugs, totally high ELO like my main account."

There's no reasoning with you guys whatsoever... Keep up the meta, do what you gotta do even if that includes creating multiple ALT accounts. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING ANYTHING TO CHALLENGE YOURSELVES OR MAKE THE EXPERIENCE BETTER FOR EVERYONE!!!!!

I think you are missing the point that those are the "higher ELO" (I'm not in the same category as the LORDS) tend push ELO to some upper limit not ever actually intended to be reached by normal means (outside of being a premade).

The thing is, they may have actually reached that point known as "the endgame", where they "try hard" to nerf themselves, and still win.

So, unless you find ways of crippling them by forcing them into TAG+NARC builds, it won't change the fact... they are trying everything and it's still not working.

I'm not even sure why you aren't recognizing this. I'm not even sure what they are trying to accomplish anymore.

...and again, no, your fully mastered variant is not the same as the trial. While your screenshot is impressive, it means nothing in the current context so please do not try to associate that with valid reasoning that my option is not viable. You're good, I know you are, but please give it a shot whole-heartedly.

Keffen: Then why not try setups where you simply don't win so much? Top of the game, top of the charts, yet I've honestly never seen you and your crew in anything but 3/4 metabuilds while I'm strolling around in mixed-build lances running with folks who have half your abilities. Challenge yourself, and convince those you run with to challenge themselves likewise. Give it a shot, because there HAS to be a better answer than you guys continuing to face-roll pugs via ALT accounts.

For what will probably be the last time, please just each of you running into failed-to-find, give it a shot (and convince your 4-man-mates to do likewise). Rock a trial and see if you can do as well as I do in them. I'd LOVE to have something to work towards, but all I hear from you are reason's you can't or won't or are afraid to or whatever...

I get focused more then you would imagine, even in a machine gun spider. I am quite practiced at using this to break up the enemy team and put my team in advantageous positions in which they are shooting and not taking damage. Kills on yourself are not the only way to win, also as a side note, it is a machine gun spider, if my team loses horribly and does not get any armour peeled off I do not have a single chance to get a kill, so in almost every loss I have had no kills, as I get Elo balanced hard.

Deforce is right, we have run all trial 12mans that went undefeated and I was not joking about how much I used to run stock Raven 2x (which was a trial mech before they started making good trial mechs). I have put out 900+ damage games on a trial dragon when I played that for a while...

So...not only could we not have gotten games, it would not have significantly lowered our Elos if we ever did make it into one...next step challenge ourselves to play only Locusts? This line of thinking is not something I wish to follow to the end...

Well, I did see once Proton in a Locust lance. It was hilarious, but IIRC, we did end up winning with that Locust lance (I was not in their premade or driving a Locust). Too bad regular matches with Lolcust lances ever end up as such (it was the first one I ever remember winning with, which is the clear exception).

I'm done here...

Actually, it just goes to show that I can have no care about my match results, play trial mechs, and still do well, regardless. I play the Trial Spider because it's fun (running around with machine guns). The sad part is that despite not trying, I'm still better than the majority of the player-base.

its alright, the brilliant solution was to increase the range of the ELO so you can be matched with even worse players than before so there's a higher chance the enemy team has as many clueless people as yours.

Never mind premades all drop in assaults and your noobs are running SHS mechs.

My Locust-1V and 3S do just fine on SHS, tyvm!
And we all know how competitive those mechs are!

So I'm a bit confused about this alt account thing.

I mean its the same player right, 100 / 200 games and he's back in his regular ELO probably cause he wins them mostly yes?

So what, he starts another new account to play cause that ALT's ELO is now in the "Can't find a game" bracket?

Why, is smashing up people below their skill level so much more satisfying than waiting for a competitive game?

Do they hand out medals or MC or something if your KDR or WL hits a threshold, whats the attraction to alt accounts?

I could understand if you wanted a Liao, and Marik and a Clan Wolf and you were pure RPG'ing it but I don't get the sense from forums that what its about.

Shouldn't all these Elite Pro players be lending their weight to the Forums and saying to "PGI, NOT GOOD ENOUGH". Make the game more enjoyable so the population is strong enough for non stomp games across all ELO's?, instead of making new ALT's every second week to thrash some new guy just logging on to see whats it about.?

What am I missing?

A number of them have complained. I guess it feeds poorly into the "alt accounts to troll newbies" things and I get it, but if the poor state of the MM causes them to not drop at all (aka "Failed to find a match), then you can see why that's problematic. Frankly, discussions about the MM has been generally fruitless because I don't think they (PGI) genuinely understand the data as much as they should. The thing about data is that it needs context, so if they have been winning 20 matches straight, it's either because the players involved are really good, or it's the opponents that are really bad. The reality says it's kind of a mix of both (MM constructing teams poorly, with too many newbies on one end to "average things out" vs not enough players in the appropriate bracket to find), with nuances.

Were not looking for a smash, those get boring and cause us to log off after a while. Anyone that has played with me knows after a few easy wins i start bringing out my flamer commando/machine gun jager, ets.

Without a alt account, during certain hours (my main gaming time) it is impossible to find a match, so if i want to play a game, any game in MWO i needed to log on my alt.

The thing is you have people who completely disagree with the Op because their personal experience is different. Right after the adjustment almost every single game I had was close. With 4 or less mechs left on the winning side. I think we all lose sight sometimes that just because a certain change didn't affect us personally doesn't mean it didn't have ramifications for other sections of the player base. The MM adjustment was great for me. They were all good close games with a very rare stomp on either side

1. I experience a lot more 12/0 wipe rofl stomps since you changed it. 19 out of the 22 games tonight were wipes, 15 being defeat wipes. So no, it's not funny or fun.
2. My average waiting time is up by 1~2 minutes.
3. I now experience failed to find matches AGAIN in my heavies/assaults.

The maximum elo adjustment should not have been adjusted to 1400. If it's not going to change. I will be submitting a ticket then and report this as a bug. Because it is downright unacceptable that I am not allowed to play half of the mechs I've collected, especially hero mechs.

Regards

Herr Panzer Magier

I suspect I am not the only one who hasn't played hardly at all in the last few months. I'm sure once they release something that isn't status quo and all the side-line sitters like myself return... match-making will improve...

So fundamentally I guess what your saying is that there is such a small number of "high ELO" players on at any one time they have to create new accounts to reset their bell curve. Then they can get "some" entertainment from the game stomping 12 - 0 through a bunch of newbies in trial mechs?

That just seems sad for everyone doesn't it?

Oh dear, MWO, should be a good game in 2018.

Isnt that the whole point of this thread? that expanding ELO search range WAS NECESSARY, so players did not have to wait 30+ minutes for a match or create a alt to find a match in a timely manner.

That's not what he said. If you can't drop in a match with your stupidly high ELO account, then, how the heck are you going to find a match otherwise?

Creating the scenario where the high ELO player is FORCED to created a new account to "effectively troll" the newbies with their own set of Trial Mech is realized for all the wrong reasons. Instead of thinking this would happen because they are "bad people", it's because the MM forced them to... I see this as "vicious cycle" that should never have occurred in the first place.

Ummm, I read your comment as exactly what I said with venom.

Look I'm not bashing the high ELO player here, I think its sad for EVERYONE. Billy M with his comments about lowering his ELO are probably the extreme end I guess.

In an ideal world the better solution is that the game is strong enough to retain and gain those highly skilled players and that there is sufficient population across all skills sets for balanced enjoyable games.

That day can't get here soon enough

I would gladly settle for "minimal disappointment" on Feb 4, but knowing PGI history... that day would only be considered a Matrix creation. I would just take both pills... because it's not going to matter.

Here is the thing, even at off peak hours, there are enough players to make somewhat even teams. The MM just has stuid logic and parameters a majority of the time.

At least 80% of the time i can tell if i am going to win or lose the match before it starts, just by looking at the names in the startup screen.

At no point whatsoever is the P considered a metabuild. Also I am pretty sure that is, at most, a 3man.

But you are right ! THESE GUYS DARED TO USE ASSAULT MECHS **** THEM ALL BURN THEM TO ASH THEY DEFINITELY DO NOT SPEND HOURS A DAY RUNNING ALL SORTS OF MECHS (now that they can get games)
