Why the hell did they not make the hunch on the 4G, 4H, 4P and Grind Iron smaller? I mean they did it for the 4J. They should of made it about 25% smaller. Why PGI, Why PGI. Why would you not helop the other Hunchies out. I mean you helped the 4J. Why not his brothers in arms? I love the Hunchback and it really needs the hunch to be smaller.

Because the 4J was underused, while 4G, H and P weren't?

You would think the fact you cannot protect your hunch in anyway other than a wall between you and the enemy would be something they'd take greater notice of.

That's why it's called a HUNCHback. I named my G "Julia Childs." She required a wall too.

The size of the "hump" is a trade-off for having a good concentration of firepower for the chassis.

while I would like to have less of a target there myself, it's hardly debilitating. I have been using the HBK just fine for over a year now. Actually twisting does minimize the ability to hit the hunch, I often present my left torso during the cooldown of my AC20, and it usually works fine. Not quite zombie centurion fine, I admit, but it does work.
And I admit, cosmetically, I think the HBK is just about perfect. reducing that hunch would ruin that, and my mechs looks are important, darn it!

Its not a humpback its a hunchback, its a major part of the design you cant lose that its iconic.

I love the look off the Hunchback, and the whole idea with fitting a tiny mech with a BFG gives a good reason for the hunch. That being said what I would have liked to see with the visual modifications of the model would have been smaller hunches for different weapons instead of keeping the normal sized hunch for standard ACs and barrels sticking out of the hunch for non-standard ACs.
Oh well...

Actually, if I had one complaint, it is the way PGI implemented the gun barrels in the last Hunch model update.
With the mech having such a large "hump", all ballistics should be contained inside it (no protruding barrels out the face of the "hump"). It is a rather small gripe in all reality, but I still feel it would be more appropriate.

Ya, I mean a Trebuchet-7K can hold an AC20 in its comparatively small ST (visual model updates will probably add a short stubby barrel). Why does my huncback need that huge Hunch? The hunch back should have gotten a special treatment with 3 different sizes of hunch represented by small, medium and large ACs/ballistics. Stacking multiples would increase the size of the hunch so that your 3 AC2s add up to large hunch but a single one of those just adds a small (like 4SP hump sized) ballistic hunch.

Although I do believe that would be a good idea, I don't think PGI wants to spend the time to model at least 3 or 4 different humps for an old mech like the Hunchback (old as in original MWO mech). It would still make sense too seeing as the traditional large hump Hunch has an A/C20 mounted (so the hump could stay large). Then smaller ballistics resulted in a smaller profile.
I can't see them doing that though. Still, I think it was a good thought.
