To any PGI official (if any ever read feedback topics)
For 6 months I almost forgot about that awful minimally viable first person shooter simulating simulator game. Now I realize that it was a happy bliss, because after I received mail news about 3rd phase of UI2.0 test I have been tempted to return, so I came and checked what is going on here. Well, PGI constantly proves that they can shamelessly f@ck up anything they do. I spent few more hours playing robots Quake, just to discover that:
  • old bugs are still not resolved or not addressed at all (no textures in FC on Radeo v/c;players list sometimes do not reflect groups correctly; chat is still glitchy, etc)
  • FPS decreased
  • matchmaker still sucks (stomps are reality of PUGs)
  • global cooldown for Air- and Artillery- strikes allows the abuse
  • hit detection still plays tricks
  • 3D modelers are still turning out potboilers
  • ridiculous ECM mechanic still makes ECM the most overpowered equipment per ton, though it is not so crucial as before
  • ridiculous hard points system produced ridiculous solution of disbalance - The ****ing Ghost Heat!
  • Still no physics
but there neutral and even positive changes as well:
  • old balance problems were replaced by new ones
  • 12vs12 is good, but half of maps are too small for it
  • there are more new Mechs and modules
  • trial Mechs are no longer utter nuisance
  • there are more pilot skills
  • cockpit glass was finally added!
Last one is the only thing I really like of recent changes, though its realization is not without flaws. Where are glass cracks after cockpit was hit? This is minimal viable glass, even MW3 2000 had it in 2000.
Note, that I didn't mention DX11, CW, Clan Packs or lack of content (which are still critical). I address only present problems of game in present state which affect players experience.

I doubt the upcoming and very awaited patch on Feb 4th will change things drastically, I saw UI2.0 during last test, but I'm looking forward to it nevertheless. What I know for sure is that PGI has to fire Paul Inoue, that guy had failed every task he was set to complete, Russ Bullock should go the plank second, for those two are the stubborn and blind guides near the abyss.

P.S. Two things PGI does not deserve:
  • MechWarrior franchise license
  • Alex Iglesias
