Why does Mechwarrior: Living Legends have no hit detection issues (at least that I have ever found) but MWO does?
They both use Cry Engine. They both are client/server based.
What's the deal?
Some nights it is still 50 - 70% of damage not registering at times.

Totaly agree with you Blast . I have so many hours on MWLL and i have good amount matches on MWO . MWO was fine until HSR . I played MWLL on EU , NA and RU servers I never has any problems with the hit detection , yes i it was necesery to adjust my aim to lead a bit , not something drastic but after that no problems at all. I notice after introducing of HSR you can notice every second the aim position need to be change - one second you need to lead few lends ahead next second you need to shoot after the mech - you can notice that when you fire with lasers .HSR work fine for people with normal ping , but for people with higher ping become terible .

because MW LL uses ye olde cryengine with proven stable years of tweaks for performance.
MWO is using a relatively new engine and they have little expertease on hand to sort it. the fabled SC is re-writting TONS of CE3 code to avoid such issues that this game has.
basically the new cryengine isn't very good for PvP online games, god knows what number 4 will be like.

"MWO was fine until HSR."
Something I suspected for some time now.
You just experience the full magnitude and sadness about SRMs not hitting, while fighting a Quickdraw with SRM12...
To sum it up, just as bad as against a Centurion... meaning almost none will be counted as a hit.

Yes it was if you lived in Canada. If you lived in Europe or worse Australia, it was nearly unplayable. Lasers and LRMs were the only weapon that could be used. HSR has issues, but it is MUCH better then how it used to be.
