hi all
from the beginning on...i am ******* pissed so pls dont be mad reading this post here.

i wrote a ticket to the support. only answer i got: write in forum (great support btw ;) )
the great support says, that the devs will read the forum so i hope they will read this here. and i require a answer from the devs to this post

so here i am.

can u tell me why the **** a light mech can tank 20 shots from my ER PPC?
these light mechs are way too overpowerd.
a light should be a light and not an assault who can run 150 km/h
its hard enough to hit them, when u finally hit him, he keeps on running.
u hit him more and more...not even the armor falls off.
the armor of a light should fall off after max 3-5 hits. and not after 30-50

just 10 minutes ago

i was standing in second line with my stalker (2x ER PPC) i know that the dmg goes down if the target is far away. the spider took 5 shots from me in the legs from a distance of 1200 meter...
5 shots = 10 hits.
1200 meter means a damage drop from 3-5
means he should have taken a damage from minimum 30-50 in the legs...nothing happens

later on 2 atlas and me fired on him....he keeps on running. distance here...100 meter

these lights **** me off and the devs should finally nerf them.
( and dear devs, i know why the lights are so OP, coz u play them yourselfs, but only that u have fun playing its unfair to build such OP mechs)

greetz ;)

What kind of ping do you get on average?

Spiders are notorious in this game for having faulty hitboxes (though I haven't heard about the legs being problematic). If you want to combat light mechs, I'd advise using lasers and missiles, not front-loaded weapons (PPCs, AC rounds, etc). Splash damage is more effective and has a higher likelihood of being effective across all network latencies.

What sort of ping do you normally have when you play?

This game does a TON of server side checks when it comes to hit registration. For the most part, it is a good thing because it makes it extremely difficult to cheat and hack the game. HOWEVER, if your ping is a bit high (150+ especially), it means that hit registration gets wonky (especially on smaller fast moving mechs like the Spider). It may look like your hitting the target (your reticle might even flash red), but in reality the server sees it as a miss by the time it checks all the data coming from the clients. Basically where you see the Spider and where the server (and other low ping clients) are logging/seeing its position is different.

That might be the problem you are having.

Actually it also means if your ping is really low the hit registration suffers. The game favors mid-ping ranges say 80 to 150. My ping is ~35 to 60 depending on the day. The lower my ping goes the worse the hit detection is. It also varies with the weapon. PPC and missile registration seems to be the worst. Ballistics, and Lasers being much better.

I get between 35 to 60 on average, and I rarely have a problem. I can AC20 and PPC spiders all day long. Curious.

What makes you so sure that you hit with your shots? Is your reticle turning red indicating a client side hit? Just because it does doesn't mean 100% it actually did, I've fired some that I know couldnt hit due do hitting terrain but still indicate red.

Is the spiders paper doll flashing? Are you noticing a change at all in his paper doll or is it flashing but nothing happening?

Sometimes HSR just fails you, I've spectated people thinking they are just awfull aiming, and then they start mentioning they are getting hits but nothing happens. Basically they are aiming behind the target but do t know it becuase on their client they aren't. This is most evident on spiders since they are the hardest mech to hit. Larger mechs you may still hit, just not where you aimed.

This games not perfect, but a lot better than it used to be, and a lot easier than having to just guess on leading based on opponents ping.

Another thought here, PPCs just aren't great for hitting spiders. It's natural to get frustrated but honestly in a stalker, shoot something else, anything instead of the spider. If you hate them that much load up a bunch of streaks and they won't come near you.

And if you really really hate them, go get yourself a commando or a kintaro/shaddow hawk and kit it out as a spider killer. It never gets old gunnnng down spiders, let me tell you.

Not sure if you're talking to me or the OP, but generally speaking, when I hit a spider with an AC20, pieces of him fly off. That's a good sign it's working for me.

You do have to have pretty good aim and timing to hit a spider with PPCs or ACs

I'll say! 5 shots and 5 hits on a Spider's legs at 1200 meters distance with a PPC?!

I am in awe of your awesomeness!

Seriously though, you most likely missed. They are small, narrow, and fast. But if you hit one, it does damage or falls apart. I've seen it many times, even today. A team mate shot an enemy Spider with dual cannons and it exploded and died.

Don't believe me? Try piloting one. They are not really that hard to kill, just hard to HIT. It's not the same thing.

the reason why i know that i hittet him: when u hit a target, your crosshair turns red. mine turned red...and one more. the spider stood still in the first 5 shots

Hmm, just because your crosshairs turn red, doesn't mean the server counted it as a "hit". I know it's supposed to, but especially PPC's seem "borked" sometimes. I've hit slow assaults from distance with PPC's, saw the "splash" of the hit, crosshair turned red, and paper doll did nothing.

Other side of the coin, last night in my Highlander I PASTED a spider to the ground with a 2 LL and AC20 alpha. He made the mistake of getting stuck on terrain right in front of me. Trust me when I tell you they'll need dental records to I.D. that pilot's body. The only thing left was a grease spot on the ground.

:(

Seriously, go pilot a Spider for a while, you'll see they're not invincible.

Post a video showing how you have to put in "30-50" PPC shots to get light mech armor to fall off.

Post a video showing how you hit the legs on a spider at 1,200m with 10 ERPPC shots with no effect.

The Devs do not make changes based on feelings and hearsay as anyone can say anything. Post some evidence of your claims.

There are different issues at high ping and low ping.

At high ping, you have issues 'hitting' targets. At low pings, you have issues with being 'hit' by players.

Granted, you won't really notice the issues with how you are being hit if you aren't in a high speed mech, such as lights and Cicadas. The issue with low ping is that you can get hit after making cover.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA I literally am making my first forums post because of this thread. Hit a spider at 1200 meters with 5 ppc shots and all in just the legs!!!! It would be hard enough to hit the body at that range (if moving). That possibly might be the funniest thing i've ever read.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA you did also 0 damage. so how do you know that you even hit those legs??

it's lag\latency

I've had matches where I'm in my own light, shoving my face up their rear shooting my lasers making their armor glow

only to have them half a second later teleport slightly to the side an almost everything missing

basically your shooting a ghost
