There wouldn't be much complaining if cockpit glass was implemented on day 1 of closed beta.

Yeah, not sure how some of these people can handle driving on a day to day basis without crying; I mean, do these people freak out and then crash their vehicles whenever a bird shiits on their windshield...because it caused them "eye strain" or "kinetosis"?

I don't even want to think about what happens when they are driving while facing west at sunset...or during inclement weather.

I honestly am not trying to be a jerk about it (I'm actually just joking around) but I think there might some exaggeration going on about this...

I spent a week in Arizona last year, and lemme tell you. i know EXACTLY what happens to AZ drivers in inclement weather.
I'll give you a hint, it involves concrete barriers, a police car and an ambulance.

Cockpit glass depending on the map robs me of roughly 10fps and I hate it.

PGI made it facing EAST at Sunset... because of how broken the shaders are in the cockpit glass glare...

You get more glare looking away from the Sun than actually looking at it... Because the Game does not DRAW your Cockpit behind you... and thus... Sunlight goes through your mech and hits your cockpit... you are looking at unrealistic Sun Glare. You even get SUn Glare in CAVES or underground....
Immersion broken..

The Green Tint is just ugly.... gives the Film Grain a run for its money.... The game looks aesthetically unpleasing now.

But I can live with all that.. Ugly and SUN GLARE...no problem...less frps..... and the Cockpit glass.... I would live with aLL OF THAT

Its the Debris on the windshield when zoomed in that gets me everytime while bouncing up and down.... SUPER EYESTRAIN and eventual Motion sickness... something I"ve never received in any other video game ever.
If thats the part that is not toned downed in next patch then I can physically no longer play the game..

Has is that immersive for you?

I have this wonderful thing called a 'windshield wiper' and 'wiper fluid'. It's pretty neat technology! Very advanced stuff! FAR more advanced than a miniature fusion reactor or particle projectile cannons. Oh and don't even start me on my sun visor or my insurance company that can replace a bad windshield in 10 minutes flat!

WAY too advanced for battletech!

haha... sarcasm...I've heard of this type of humor before.

As mentioned before, they are toning down the cockpit effect on this next patch on Tuesday.

And for the record, it's scuffing/scoring on the armored windows...not dirt. So windshield wiper fluid and/or wipers would not get rid of it anyway. :P

I just don't understand why it has to be GREEN.

It looks like my cockpit is full of mold...

Especially when most of the glass from the outside is brown.

I appreciate that they're trying to make the game more realistic and all, but I personally don't really like the new cockpit glass, either. I keep finding myself leaning closer to my screen to look through the awful dust (or whatever the heck is plastered all over the glass, I mean what happened to windshield cleaning in the 31st century?) and that's not good. If one is to sit ergonomically correctly, leaning forwards like that is a big no-no.
So yeah, I wish they'd make it optional as well. (Not having read any posts but the original post so)

Windscreen wipers, cleaning agents .... you want iron bars, razor wire and the skull of your victims obscuring your view surely?

I wish the cockpit glass was an option instead of something they added for everyone. I don't know about other high end card users, but I enjoyed the stunning graphic effects of the game before, and the new glass only degrades that visual wonder and adds even MORE cockpit view filler. It's a game, nice to pretend for some maybe but I like to enjoy my games for what they are these days (stunning visual effects entertainment) and MW:O was up there with the best for a long running while. I now find myself playing less and less on mw:o and more on games with a nice clear view of the games world and detail. I hope they will give us the option one day to see clearly out our cockpits. I mean come on, was it a rendering solution for pgi? why would they choose to force a downgrade to everyone on there most stunning feature (mechs being destroyed)? I'm just bogled, MW:O already had a bad view compared to most games in it's time so far due to losing 25% view to the thickness of the cockpit framework (I understand many like to see it). I enjoy the gam and think they are doing a steller job, but I'm so disappointed that it looks like {Scrap} now. Come on PGI, I just want to buff out and polish my window bfore each drop. PLEASE?

Anyone else feel the same? Maybe I'm stranded alone on an island on this one , but it really does suck compared to the visuals I'm used to in mw:o.

Is it just me, or do some mechs have dirtier glass? Is that intentional? Are you going to sell us MC only consumables and call it "Washer Fluid"?

PGI's new pitch: "Hey Mechwarriors! Having a hard time seeing what your shooting? Buy some Washer Fluid for your mech. Only 300MC!!"

Yeah it's official; it's being toned down for this next patch on Feb 4th.

https://twitter.com/...004097560145920

That was said the same day they put it on the test server. It's just people would rather start 50 threads about it instead of accepting the fact that PGI has already said "You guys are right, it's a bit much and we're going to tone it down"

Cockpit glass is plain horrible, it makes everything look grainy.
I may as well play 3rd person only from now on except I hate that mode.
