I think it is time for a new set of trial mechs, because in the last few months, we have had nothing but champion mechs, which I do not mind, except that since there are so few champions to choose from it is just more of the same.
What about the chassis that do not have champions? I would love to try an Orion out, but I don't grind fast enough to just "try" a mech that isn't a trial, and I am too poor to put any more money into the game, especially on something like a new chassis that I have never used before.
What about the Trebuchet? Or the Kintaro? Will we have to wait for a Champion version of them just to try it?
Another thing that this would do, is reinforce what PGI has always said, that stock and base tech mechs are still competitive, now, I'm not saying they aren't, that's not what this is about, but if all the new players see are mechs with Endo, DHS, and the like, that gets in the way of telling them that a stock mech is still good.
One of the things I love about this game is how many options we have, chassis wise, but by limiting the mechs we are given to try out to just those we have made Champions of, gets in the way of that.
Anyone else's thoughts?

I'd like to see a faster turn around on trials. The dragon has been with us since heavy vs the world for crying out loud

What? PGI hasn't said that stock/base mechs are competitive in... well, since I've been here at the start of open beta.
The reality is, stock mechs are not competitive. In fact, they are crushingly, horribly bad, and have no place on the battlefield. Their presence in the Trial list does nothing but hurts new players who don't understand how or why they are terrible, and gives absolutely no indication of how the chassis will actually perform in use.
Champion Mechs, on the other hand, are at least viable (though not optimal). Better to just make more Champ mechs.
