They were talking about getting rid of the 2X on elited mechs and ripping our modules and mech earned stuff out when they release the tier 1 modules. And we are getting those tuesday.

So I am guessing any mech that only becomes viable when you elite it will be a dead mech after tuesday. And a new grind begins...

They might be refunding all of your mech XP. I think that is the worst case scenario. As in you'll have to spend all of it again.

They were thinking of giving them back in GXP, but we'll see what that entails on "Judgement Day" Feb 4.

I was under the impression that only the pilot tree was going to be refunded (you buy this with GXP anyways). It's going to be really unfortunate if we need to remaster mechs if certain chassis have been sold.

I was under the impression the xp wipe etc was going to be when they did the module revamp rather than at the release of the weapon modules. I guess we'll find out in a couple of days either way.

Can't find the thread, but I swear they said the Xp would be refunded.

I really hope that they're not expecting us to "remaster" those mechs again in another way. I expect that the mastered mechs will stay in the highest level possible.

This is not the beta test anymore, you just can't wipe things.

first of all, this is the thread you're talking about http://mwomercs.com/...ls-and-modules/

and the scary parts:

Quote

Tied to player level, the Mech efficiencies are also split up into different levels and tiers. As players gain levels, they will unlock tiers sequentially, one after another and will be able to buy the efficiencies in the next level tier. The 2x multiplier for basic efficiencies that got activated automatically after having bought all efficiencies in the elite modules will be removed with the level system, as it is reincorporated into the efficiency tiers.

Quote

Note: We are considering resetting pilot trees and refunding already purchased talents with GXP. The plans mentioned above are long term goals and may not come all at once.

Keep in mind
  • this is for mech trees and the tier 1 weapon modules are not part of mech trees
  • they have not announced any changes to the mech skill trees (only some new modules)
  • if they do remove the automatic 2x bonus it will be "reincorporated into the efficiency tiers" somehow
This would be part of a "level system" and "reworking the efficiency tree" either of which has been announced for Feb 4th.

Sure you can! After all SOE did it with Star War Galaxies and the NGE, and that turned out just fine.

Didn't it?

"But this is the way of the FTP model." PGI said this and then proceeded to "launch" in September. They were fully aware that they were going to do complete overhauls on systems, and their excuse is not that because they admit the game wasn't ready for a launch, but instead, it's the way of the ""super casual, commitment-free FTP model"" where they expect players to be 100% behind PGI because of this and owe PGI undying patience with any of the major key features they have yet to implement/redo.

I'm happy that only after 2 months of launching in September they had mentioned considering doing a re-launch in 2014. I think that would be very wise of them.

Yeah. I remember they said they were going to wipe stats when the achievement system came. I think that was in april or may in an ATD... hmm.

Edit: Ah yes,

Q: Should there be a data wipe, or at least a stats wipe when (if ever) Open Beta is deemed over?
A: We plan to wipe stats when achievements come online.

TBH, I don't see too much value in doing that (not that you can't do it), but you would have to show significant changes in the game first (not UI 2.0 specifically, but actually having CW) instead of "just having a party". There's no meaningful value of the party without having actually accomplished something.

It could simply be their position at that time...

I like how asked for the "source" when it was literally written into a Command Chair post. Do people not read those anymore?

I am curious. If they are going to incorporate this 'tiers and levels' system, and they said that only 10% of players would be considered 'high level' then does that mean that most player's mechs will be worse than they are now? Would a new player with 3 Mastered mechs now be unable to fully unlock them because they aren't high enough level?

Yeah, I put the assumption that most of the features (mainly Community Warfare, as that's the root feature encompassing UI2.0, and everything else in mwomercs.com/theplan ) would be complete beforehand, along with some very old bugs. But I agree, without any significant change or revamp... there's basically nothing to celebrate over. I hope PGI doesn't rush it this time and try to force their ideologies on us again:
Them: "We're out beta!"
Us:"no, the game isn't even done."
Them: "But it's FTP! It doesn't matter!"
Us: "It matters to us."
Them: "haha, no it doesn't."

Yeah it could be, and maybe with the UI2.0 revamp they might find they won't need to do a stats wipe.
Also, no one asked for the source about that post, I posted it free-willingly.
