I have been having the worst time trying to play this game or even installed for that matter.

My specs:
i5-2500k
Msi p67a-gd53
EVGA 660TI FTW Signature 2
8 GB RAM Corsair
Windows 8.1 64-bit Pro

My issue begin when I download the installer for the firs time last night. When I get to the part where the installer asks for a location to install, I usually put it in C:\Games\Piranha Games. Everytime I do it, it tells me that the path exists, regardless of where I put it. This happened the first time I installed it and I never played the game before

So I ignore the message and installed the downloader. When I launch it, the patcher asks me to download a 3.7 GB patch, which I do. Every time It finished, it would try to install and give me a MD5 Hash error that the downloaded file is corrupt. I tried to download 5 times and it gave the same error. I reinstalled the downloader to a different location, same pathing error came up, same md5 hash error I used the MWO fixer program to download the game, and every time I ran it, it always found a corrupted pak file. I keep doing it until it was fine. When I launch it, I play one round fine. The next time, I get a fread error that it could not read 128 bytes out of zero bytes. I use the repair tool and it keeps repairing objects.pak everytime. I play one game, the next one kicks up the error.

I am at a complete lost how to fix this issue. I have updated all drivers on my computer and c++, .net,and directx is updated. I tried 2 different 4gb stick in all memory slots, clocking all hardware to stock, hard drive defrag, same thing keeps happening. Re-installing it does not change anything, even to a different drive.

I am not sure where else to go with. I spend a evening not getting anywhere with it. Having to replace a 800mb file every 10 minutes is terrible and I have no idea why it keeps happening. I never had this much trouble with a game in a long time.

Greetings,

There are many threads listing similar issues about the installer, download, and that error.

First thinks first,
1. after you download the installer, insure that you run it as an admin.
(or it will not be able to access/read/write to specific files or locations within windows)
- Or right click, properties, compatibility, [look at bottom and select "Run this program as an Admin"], close.
- when you select the installer and run, it will now carry out all its install options without issues.

2. after the program is downloaded let it install to it's default location, (happens to be the same location you listed)
- once installed, don't run it yet.
- select the game shortcut and do the same thing to allow it to "run as an admin".
(this has to do with network access, and as a simple user some things will not work correctly)

3. If the problem persists here is the repair tool link:
http://mwomercs.com/...public-release/
or the actual tool download itself:
http://patcher.mwome...ORepairTool.exe

Note here: some have reported similar issues with playing and the next match fails due to corrupted files.
-PGI is aware or this issue and hunting down the culprit, and it looks like single bits are being changed in the core files, (that's not designed to happen), Appears to be corrupt files in the shaders.pak location.

Now the new install of UI2.0 (on Feb4) should resolve this issue as the file locations are moved and designed differently.
- as a note I have all 4 .exe's within the Bin32 install location folder "admin" enabled, and never had issues.

best of luck,
9erRed
