how is this fair that an artillery strike can land behind you and get a head shot?

Yes...it does happen on occasion, thank PGI for their wonderful idea to give EZMode weapons that may or may not be meant to even the playing field a little, ie. a weapon that hits regardless of how bad my aim is as I need a LARGE radius.

One of the worst implementations since 3PV imo.

In a 4 man last night Twinkyoverlord had an arty double kill (at least 1 was a headshot), and I had a Air kill (cause of death unknown)
Either way, we killed 25% of the enemy team with consumables.

It happens, get over it. Do not nerf anything more please.

I am somewhat in shock, but I have to agree.

It didn't land behind you; one of the artillery shells hit your head.
The red smoke plume is just the general area that the strike hits. The actually shells land in a "shotgun" like pattern around that area.

There really isn't much involved in the placement, since it's effectively total luck where the shells fall.
Getting two kills with artillery on fresh mechs isn't about skill. It's about winning the lottery.

Twice for me yesterday. Once was even friendly fire, guy behind me accidentally dropped smoke on my back and FOOM. Cockpit destroyed. Random shells are random, artillery grenade headshot happen.
Only reason I know it was him is my timer on arty had just reset, and someone on the other team proceeded to dump their own airstrike in and blew him to bits for good measure.
