Ok. Just came back from a several week hiatus (you know.. real life!) to the new UI. I'm trying to be an objective reviewer on it, as I've used a variety of professional and entertainment software and have a hand in designing GUIs myself.
Ok, so I appreciate the flexibility the new layout offers, and I can see the potentiality for future additions... and I especially like the fullscreen. That's very helpful. Also the new rollover mech information and the ability to change mech name and weapon groups from the mechlab are nice touches. Artistically speaking, it is very modern and well-planned.
But now all the actually useful functionality has been stripped away. I went to the store and cannot filter weight classes, I am shown no details of mechs I select and it does not seem like I'll ever know until I spend money on one. My mechbay has filter options, why not the store? You have to click a thin drop-down menu in your mechbay and click "purchasable", which is a sort of store but not accessible through the store. What's the point in even having a store then?
Also, everything is in a grid format. That's nice for visualizing the mechs and weapons, but useless for finding anything. I see buttons to change from tile to list format, but clicking them does nothing.
The new mechlab is worse. Now instead of seeing how all the armor is distributed across the whole mech, I have to visit each individual part. The "Used slots" graphics are unnecessarily confusing with their corners chipped off. It is more difficult to find out where an item starts and stops. We could have been allowed to see all slots at once like other MW games to see the whole mech at once, but this was neglected. And for what purpose was it changed? The old one was working fine.
And that's my big complaint that I would like answered:

What was so wrong about the old interface that you had to change everything about the new one?

You need to understand that messing with a user's interface is like rearranging their limbs and eyes. Once they've learned it a certain way, forcing them to change is like violating their body, our "user interface for the real world." If you're going to change it, you'd better be sure you're making it better. Surgery is meant to fix problems, not create new ones. I know it's just a video game, but people have paid a lot of money into it.
So with worse organization, useless buttons, less information, empty drop down menus... can I have the old interface back until.. you know, this one gets finished? Or am I just completely missing how it's all supposed to work? I honestly would trade the new interface for fewer game crashes. That's what we want.

Oh, and what happened to Training Grounds?

Edit: I should apologize for the original title of this article, it was too rash.I have changed it.
