Posted ImagePosted Image Very funny, instead of just a mech paperdoll where I could pull and replace parts of all limbs from one screen........I got this ONE list and I have to click on each part individually.......for the armor too? U.I. GOT A PROBLEM! Who ever built it can't have ever possibly played this game.......cause he would have known what a smurphy was.

The "Smurfy" layout that the community has been asking for will make its first appearance in March. Below is a mock-up of the current plan for initial viewing. This is a placeholder mock-up but should give you a general idea of what to expect when the feature is distributed to the live servers.

More information will be added to the mouse-over state information pannels as time goes on. This pannel also does not appear on some screens and this will be addressed very soon after Feb 4th.

Or just complain. Your call.

He is right by complaining. This usability issue was reported by multiple testers during both 3 test runs on the interface. The result was that it was barely changed and it is unpractical and respects the whole UI trend of violating an enormous amount of common heuristics. Only if that "View by list" switcher was functional...

If you look at your image, it appears to be only a 'details' screen, not something you can actually modify your mech on.

If that's right, it won't affect actual mech-building process or alleviate OP's concerns of engine-hell, rendering your post wrong. Hopefully it's just a lazy mockup and the smurfy-style layout will be for modification too...

I did the test runs and i'm aware of all that, but the fact is they acknowledge for this and are doing exactly what we asked. You just have to wait for a month.
It's not like the Devs didn't told us that there will be missing features at start. But if you want to complain, go for it, it's your right. As for myslef, i'll just wait.

Engine-hell? Because the pictures are bigger than before?

Otherwise, yes; they already stated it's just a mock-up display but as long as they keep the Murphy's flavour, i'm fine with it.

I think this one-list thing is a wonderful idea.......and there should be a mini-game inside just adding a weapon. So lets you you want to put a PPC on your catapult-k......and then you have to FIGHT your catapult with a loader mech........

That screenshot is just a mockup - yes. But the thing that bothers me is that it doesn't really reflect what we really need. If they are going to give us a Smurfy-like SUMMARY of each mech, they should all stay put and do nothing as I doubt anyone wants to keep going forward and backward between that screen and the other screens that actually let you interact and tune your mech.

I lost the faith on the "waiting" (and I had plenty of it). Many important issues were reported repeatedly by players during all the tests and were not addressed. Here are a few examples:
  • Double clicking
  • Hardpoint hover
  • Paperdoll and/or direct clicking on mech part (this one was promised for release)
  • Responsive font size
  • No walls of the same icons (they added the engine rating to the thumb, though)
  • Configure armour in one place
But then, we see resources wasted on an Inventory module that could be introduced later, and other new features that doesn't hold up to the fact that older features are absent or dysfunctional.

Well, whatever you say, it's still just a mock-up. Stating it won't be exactly what you want it to be, or that it will be the worst thing in the world is only conjectures.

About those issues, the Devs answer proved that they noticed and plan on adressing them. You can be upset because of those lacking feature right now, but this UI release was made in a rush to please us, players, and none of them is preventing you from building your Mech.
Again, i can give them a couple of month before judging the whole thing, and so far i'm fine with what i see. I hope you find some patience left, because the game is improving in a slow way, but is definitely getting better.

Not in love with the new Mechlab (which is NOT the "UI", despite most people apparently not understanding that) but can't say it is particularly difficult to figure out. And I "get" where they are going with it, though.

My only real complaint is the armor should be adjusted in it's own tab still, and upgrades should be doable without tabbing back out of loadout first. And mos timportantly, there is no dynamic listing of your crits available, which is kinda dumb.

But nothing earth shattering, IMO.

Actually, I don't exactly mind the new mechlab because I am already use to it.

The purpose of the limited lists from my viewpoint is to narrow it down. New players when they saw the mechlab paper doll had no real clue as to what they were looking at. Yes it was simple and intuitive for US. For the most part "US" are a bunch of people that love and know mechwarrior and understand the very core concepts of building a mech. A new player especially one new to Mechwarrior does not have this.

Can it be streamlined and made a little bit easier to navigate? YES
Should it be streamlined and involve a little bit less clunky interfacing? YES

Can it be improved upon now that the structure for the UI is laid down? YES

Just post some actual damn feedback in the proper forum instead of complaining.

Why does it claim that I own every Mech in the game? Or are they just kidding that we got owned, lol?
