Jenner-F = 6 hardpoints, 5 jumpjets, 1 module, no lower actuators
Ember = 8 hardpoints, 6 jumpjets, 2 modules, lower actuators
Its better than the Jenner in basically every way and has no real downside.

One has to wonder how the other FS standards will stack up to it, but my guess is they're going to be well-received as well- all it needs is an ECM package to go with the other options.

There is no ECM Firestarter. The other variants will not be as good as this one, except as I said the double AMS in times of many magic missiles.

I'm not entirely convinced of that for a few reasons...
1. The Locust was the last light introduced...Don't really need to follow that up with anything.
2. Hero variants traditionally are the more "unconventional" variants of the chassis collection. The Shadowhawk is one of the best mediums, but the Phoenix variant is...odd. 3 ballistics LT, 2 or 3 missile RT, and one energy in the arm. Many will say the 2D2 is a better platform and it isn't the phoenix platform. The Ilya is the rare exception when it comes to a well rounded loadout, but even then there are base chassis that can do any one given thing better.
I do think we have seen some creep to more powerful mechs, but I would hadly say to sell more hero mechs. Even older platforms like the Cataphract are still extremely powerful in today's game. Heck, event the Catapult K2 is still effective. One good solid hero mech comes along and people scream bloody murder. In a way, I suppose the Shadowhawk recieved similar criticism.

Misery best Stalker, best Victor is either the DS (hero) or K, Ember best light.
Step by step we edge closer to p2w as PGI focuses all their efforts on making quick and easy money. That being said they better not nerf my Ember unless they are going to give me a refund I got conned badly enough with the Talon package! >.<

That's on paper Kho, wait and see how the Mech actually moves.

It won't replace the Jenner, but it is defiantly a great alternative.

You forgot about Heavy Metal, despite gauss nerf (which won't last for long I believe, it's a matter of time to get Weapon Module for gauss) it's still the best of Highlanders. Protector is also very descent Mech and is at par with ONI-V.

(assuming of course that people aren't proposing ACs as a useful weapon on a 35-tonner)

Also, 35 tonners are supposed to be the strongest lights, so I don't have a problem with that unless it's op (worth more than 35 tons). It's like a robust TDK with a little less speed and a little more JJ and ballistic options, for 10 more tons, looks fair to me. It will still die quickly when I throw streaks at it. I'll wait to see how it plays out before I judge.

The height is actually really not an issue. Not only is it still really short, the Jenners problem is that the massive ct sticks out horizontally really far. This means that when people shoot at you, you have a much higher chance to be hit as you run along. Never do I shoot over the head of a Locust or Commando let alone any other mech, but a Jenner is far easier to hit then both because you have a large area of margin, not vertically, but horizontally. Many a shot that would fly wide of a Spider or Comanndo or even to a lesser extent the Raven (although really you should not be missing something with such terrible turning and no jjs) connects with the Jenner ct that is just giving you a much wider target. I am not sure I explained that well but whatever. Not only that, but in the Jenner you cannot spread damage. When you get hit, it is either in the ct or the legs, that is it. When you get hit in the Firestarter you can spread it to lose your arms first, you can also quite easily stick your side torsos in the way to soak up another shot as well as of course the legs. This ability to spread damage increases your life expectancy greatly. A Jenner is only ever 2 shots from death, in this mech you can quite easily absorb 7/8 and live (barely but you are a light mech so to be expected). Whilst I do not really have any problems hitting Embers (even 150kph in this game is really not that fast and they are only at 130kph right now, aiming is super easy) I find them much harder to kill then Jenners and I survive in them far longer then I would expect to in a Jenner, especially a Jenner without basics.
You are totally correct about the D being the best light hunter still though. No contest for SSRMs.

I would disagree with that. Personally I think the 732 is the best (for my playstyle of jumpsniping) the 733C is the best all round as it does better close quarters and the 733 is the best missile boat in game. I do not play Orions.
