There is a few or almost a good majority of you here are deciding to go with a laptop with your gaming.

Are you prepared dish out 900-1400 for the bare min?

Are you aware degradation will start out drastically if your gaming nonstop? You will notice this after 6-8 months from your windows boot up.

Majority of the problems in gaming laptops that goes back or start the degradation is with the processors diodes.

Good gaming laptop must have great air-vents and air circulation.

I would like to recommend a ASUS series laptops, I have personal experience with other name brands laptops like Dell, Alienware and HP.

Please take a look this series and you will not be disappointed.

Asus laptops [2]

The only reason I have to look into a laptop for gaming is I'll be heading off to college come August and I'll need one anyways.

Sager > Asus IMO.
You get more options, better cooling, and generally cheaper prices on what's in them. Plus better customer service IMO as well.

I have an Alienware m14x that I use for gaming, but almost went with the Sager 15"

17" and larger laptops just didn't make any sense for me when portability was my largest concern.

I have the older G73JH...never been been happier with a laptop.

I had a Sager once, it was good, but the finish wore off real quickly, the lid cracked at the hinges, and it ran hot under the palm rests.

I'll be primarily playing on my M18x, it has served me very well.

Though my old M1730 still runs like a champ!

There is a reason I have a desktop for gaming and a 200$ netbook for facebook/taking to class. Working it out in terms up updating parts and etc I save quite a bit of money. It's easy for a gaming rig to age faster than the parts die... The opposite is true in a netbook I only use for internet/papers.

Nice,

I still love full sized towers. But yes, if your going to get a laptop your going to spend some $$$ for good hardware.

i see your asus and raise you a 17 inch sager with 2 hd radeons in crossfire, a quad i7 @3.6 ghz 12 gigs of ram 120 gig ssd for boot/loading intensive apps (like games) and 1 tb @ 7200 for my 700 gigs of steam games + other crap i keep on backup.

cost me 3 grand between the unit itself in june 2011, and the ssd later in september. (ssd really is a huge upgrade though omg 10 second boots ups, instant shut downs, games dont bore me when loading!)

I dished out about 3 grand for and Alienware M17x with pretty much all the bells and whistles. Should have been a bit over 4k, but was on sale. One of the best investments I have recently made and has basically caused me to get back into computer gaming. (had a crap one before this, so I played old stuff or console)

I have a HP laptop that I've been using for gaming due to limited desk space, but it's three years old now and has been having some issues. Since I moved last year I have more room and disposable income, so I'm thinking of investing in a desktop PC.

IMO Alienware is overpriced. You pay a lot extra for the name. Also, they're owned by Dell (since March 2006) and I'll be damned if I willingly support that crap company.

Well, especially so so compared to comparably priced models from Asus, Sager, and Eurocomp, not to mention they don't have the level of cooling in their laptops compared to those three companies.

I have used a laptop for a number of years for gaming and such. But now that I am married and have a family, it is easier for me to use a desktop instead of a laptop. I do not game much when on the go, so I have a netbook when traveling. Also I would not buy a pre-made system any more. I got what I wanted in a system by building it myself and what i spent got me better than the same amount would have got in a pre-made system.

I just got an X230 Thinkpad, but it's definitely for school and life rather than gaming.Although I'll sneak in some Ivy Bridge use for League of Legends :D
