then they should have a time limit (2 minutes?) for someone to reconnect, otherwise they die. Too often on a large map there is a disco either at the start of the match (or worse, during) and you can't find them. Playing skirmish on Alpine and having to find the disco for 6 minutes is insane.

problem is people are doing this to get out of matches early/save their mech at the end.
we need a jail system like other MMO's, if you disconnect too often etc you get put in jail with that mech for 48 hours in example.

or instead of 2 min timer, if only discos are left on the team, then the team automatically loses.

Saw this in a skirmish drop last night as well. One of the members of our 4 man lance crashed to desktop while in the pre-game ready up screen. He was disconnected yet his mech loaded into the game and spawned with us. The entire match his mech was shown as active/alive yet not moving on the spawn point. The enemy team wasted a full 3+ minutes of my time walking to the far side of the match to kill this disconnect.

There is no reconnect feature in MWO (yet)... so this is definitely a bug. Before the last update, any disconnected mech was automatically counted as dead for the match score and disconnected mechs would be ignored in favour of live and dangerous opponents. If a reconnect feature would be finally implemented then I wouldnt have any problem with this as the final player would have a chance of getting back into the fight. As it is, the disconnected player (most of these are definitely unintentional game crashes) has to sit in the mechlab and twiddle his thumbs until that mech is available again.
