I guess ultimately it comes down to what "expected behaviour" is. Using a stock engine (320) the Victor has a turn speed of 55.03 deg/sec (fully mastered). This means that if you combine torso twist speed + turn speed, the Victor can track mechs running at 108kph as close to them as 10m (meaning that if you're trying to shoot something at 10m and it runs 108.1 kph, it'll be able to circle you faster than you can turn). That's before you add in jump jets.

The Victor can hardly track track mechs runnning at 108kph with a stock (std 320 engine) when 320 gives Victor 71.3 kph with speed tweak.

Quote

Consider this: has any mech been able to outmaneuver you in your Victor? Ever? The weakness of assault mechs is "supposed" to be their mobility - light and medium mechs are supposed to be able to (mostly) avoid their guns through clever piloting and paper-cut the Assault to death. In MWO we don't really have that.

Yay i was? By Shadowhawk? plenty of times? when it was running around me, jumping like crazy, farting its 4 streaks in chain fire below 90m, so i could do a nice smelly s*** with my 2x PPCs and slow ass ac20.

Cataphract can 'outmaneuver Vicky all np as well. Not to mention quickdraws even hunchbacks...

I really dont find Victor "above expected behaviour" as you need to equip XL to be able to mount some serious Firepower on it, while maintaining high speed. Don't break my Victor please. Or break it, after clan tech has entered the game. Then i won't give a f*** about Victor as well.

Counterpoint:

Meta Victor

If that's too slow..

Even More Meta Victor

Also.. jump jets are not the sole reason these are good. By any means. They'd be just as good if JJs were torn out of the game.

Have you ever piloted one my good sir? You can always use your side torsos as meatshield to survive longer yes. But once you lost one arm, you lost 50% of your armaments. Not to mention, that a slow ass victor (like the one who's build you've posted) has no other choice when countering enemy superior firepower, but to twist that torsos into angle, when you need to use arm as a meatshield.

You have any idea how many times i lost an arm in a matter of second? Because i jumped right infront of Hgn premade?

I said nothing about anything random.

Pinpoint convergence is the problem... You know, the fact that every weapon you mount hits EXACTLY the same spot... It requires no skill whatsoever.

What if every weapon had its own crosshair, in the same pattern as they were mounted on the mech... Now for you to put all of your damage on the same spot, it would take great skill. You would have to chain fire, moving your aim after each shot.

That would require waaaaaay more skill than what we have now.

This. Or have it slowly converge as you hold a lock (liiiiiiiiiiiiiiike, say, longer than the time it takes to jump in the air and shoot). It would make "sniping" far more realistic: you'd have to hold your target for a longer period of time until all the points line up, or you'd just have to live with some of the shots going wide.

It would make close-in brawling more interesting because the damage would be spread a little more.

Notably this is why the Dragon Slayer is the "Even more meta Victor" as it leaves an entire dead side torso to use a damage sponge, and running AC/5s, can afford to also run faster than the UAC/5 variant. Why I posted two.

Second, yeah, you can lose the arms but they have way more armor and a way more durable hitbox than other 'mechs; plus with this design the key is that you only lose 50% of your firepower if you lose a side. This is not a YLW situation.

Also, don't jump in front of premade Highlander lances. That is a bad idea no matter what you're in.

The DS has the tendency towards becomming meta, i must admit it, although i cant remember when i last saw a top ranked player use it with std. With an XL, it has the same risks to die fast as any other viable Victor build.

About jumping in front of hgn premade, well lets just say it wasnt intentional. It happened in a pug match, without me having any intel about enemy location, mechs formation and mech weaponry...

By "track" I don't mean "run after". "Tracking" means your ability to keep your crosshairs over the target. So if something that runs 108kph starts circling you at 10m, you'll be able to keep your crosshairs on it.

Just an invite only teamspeak with a wide variety of people that apparently a number of those in this thread care about.

Apparently a group of insecure trolls who like to shout in a lot in forums about how huge their epeen is and when some people pay attention to the shouting the trolls turn around and say...

Or something. Like I said, they don't have any respect outside their little CJ, so I guess they take what they can get.

"Hey guis, we shouted we are the best at the top of our lungs! Some of you laughed at us and respsonded, that means you care. Please... please give us more attention... please... care some more... this is all we have... *sob* *sob*"

Does caring so much about a small group of a small group hurt?

Also now the majority of your posts on this game which you have been playing for quite a while now are all about Lords...yet you claim nobody cares...do you see the irony yet? :) Although I think this is exactly how it was explained before so I forgive you if you do not.

I just posted what is more or less [Give or take an ammo placement here, armor placement there] the common DS build used by pretty much everybody in Merc Star. STD 300.

Oh noes!

Whatever will I do?

Just because I chose to easily get your jimmies all rustled doesn't automatically mean I do care. But hey, if that works for you, and that's all you have? Go for it. Milk it for all it's worth! This only further illustrates how sad and pathetic you trolls are in jonsing for any kind of attention. BTW, the majority of these posts are of people already ignoring you. Thanks for playing with me though! Guess you got to go for that low hanging fruit and just hold on tight. lol Like I said, it was EZ to stir up your little pot. It usually is with insecure types such as your House.

Came for the nerf guns, found the virtual sausage-waving competition. If it wasn't started by the Dev of All Trolls, I think Egomane or someone would have exiled this to K-town by now.

Annnnnyway...

...why not treat jump jets as simply another kind of "engine" for the 'Mech in question?

Take your Victor. Yes, I know it can't mount a super small engine. But what if one jet was basically the mobility equivalent of an (Mech's tonnage)-rated engine that can max velocity at "walking" speed for the 'Mech while airborne?

One would make a Victor a glacial 80-rating. Two would be like a 160. Three, 240. Four, 320. Max number of jumpjets = Engine rating/Mech tonnage, rounded down OR the chassis maximum, whichever is lower. So a Victor would have a maximum jump mobility equivalent of a 320 in the air, since it can't hit 400 (other than Dragon Slayer, which maxes at 4 jets anyway). Likewise, a Highlander tops at 270 rated airmobility, and single jet models would be utter slugs in the air.

From light to assault, actually equipping a full set of jets would matter.

Kotare, I think you may have misunderstood something, I don't expect anything from you or anyone else in the game. I am simply stating my opinion of the action of saying ggclose at the start of every match. I don't care that you say it, I am just letting you know how it makes you look to the community at large. And while I know that this doesn't really concern you,it just shows how short sighted you are as that type of attitude and action tends to make some people look elsewhere for their video game enjoyment. Who are you going to brag too about being good when the game closes up shop? I suppose you'll just take your uber powerful clicking skills somewhere else and treat those people like crap too.

And just to be clear, I don't expect you to be responsible for my or anyone else's feeling as quite frankly, that would be a silly expectation. Say ggclose all you want, I really don't care. All I am suggesting is try to look at the long term consequences those actions have. Most people can handle being beat, few will put up with it being rubbed in their faces over and over again and will just go somewhere else. Not me though, love the game to much.

Oh and call me terribad all you want...I know my skill level and it is not affected by your opinion or anyone else's.

I think you may have taken part of Khan's post out of context. Everyone knows that Pat Kell is one of the most gangster Stalker pilots around. No one can take that away from you. I certainly acknowledge it as I've played in a group with you and have played against you and can attest that you can put on the hurt.
