omg I died to multiple enemies.

I actually remember that moment, that was a really dumb move on my part. Villz jumped down in the canyon and got swarmed and I should have realized he was a gonner but I jumped in thinking I could draw *some* of the fire. Didn't work out. I died. I'm terrible I'm sorry.

Thank you for the compliment but the whole point of my post is to try and bring a bit of civility (not doing very good on my part...sorry for the snarkyness in my post) to the game as I want it to succeed and it becomes more difficult when people act in ways with the sole purpose of trying to make people mad, or brag about their skills or just rub people's nose in the fact that they aren't as good as some people. In an effort to end this, this will be my last post on this subject and I apologize if anything I said made things worse.

This is not a joke man. You need someone to polish off your Wang every so often or your cannon can get jammed up with leftover projectile.

Saddly, if the game closes up shop will be due the terribad management they have done so far. They dont seem to be able to learn from their mistakes.

Beign said that... Why should I be nice to the enemy? I mean, they are my enemy and its my job to demoralize them because, they are the enemy. Right?

Everyone who knows me well enough knows that I am a nice person and easy to be arround with OUTSIDE of the battlefield. I'm the kind of guy that sugests to ton down when we stomp the queue and most of us are the same deal...

I think that removing ghost heat from small lasers and srms would go a long way towards improving dedicated close range mechs. This game needs a rock-paper-scissors mechanic where all playstyles have a natural predator. At the moment, if poptarting is abolished then the meta will still be assault mech-oriented.

Also, make modules significant. Make their impact on a mech's performance defining and give medium mechs the most module slots of all the mechs. Also, maybe remove ams from mechs that can jump and leave jumpjets as they are (except for the 1 jj exploit and turning ability of jjs)

There are basically four advantages the Highlander has in the current meta:
1) Jump-jet turning makes it almost impossible to outflank with lighter, faster 'mechs.
2) High-set arm/torso hardpoints and jump jets make it ideal for jump-sniping.
3) HGN-733C variant can carry 2 PPCs and 2 AC/5 or UACs per current high-alpha meta.
4) Small torso hitboxes and good coverage of side-torsos by arms give it the most forgiving hitboxes of any assault.

So half the problem is how well PPCs and AC/5 rounds synch plus the fact that jump-sniping was never really "fixed" (and the original JJ shake has been steadily un-nerfed so many times that it's back to being completely trivial to jump-snipe).

The visually small torso is partly an art issue, but the hitboxes can be tweaked a little to reduce survivability if that remains an issue.

Jump jet turning and maneuvering is a trickier issue - partly because jump jets really aren't very good for "jumping" at the moment and there's only so much room to nerf them before they aren't worth the weight/crit penalties for using them. If anything, I wonder if JJ's should accelerate faster and more violently, be touchier to control, and fly farther, at the expense of a shorter burn-time and slower recharge rate. That would make them handier for getting to difficult locations, getting out of bad situations, or moving to flank, but a lot less useful for prolonged maneuvering or airborne sniping.

6 months, 2 weeks ago on July 31, 2013 this picture came out in this article:

So I say, "Stop looking at the roses and fix the balance, Paul!"

;)

Happy V-Day!

Furthermore, I like to put my money where my mouth is; so here is my comprehensive review and suggestions for balance of MWO.

Can PGI do better? Can PGI do something in a timely fashion?

Nope.

Spending 5 minutes a patch adjusting balance based on a little feedback... impossible for them, apparently.

REMINDER: Changing gun balance is literally a simple as editing a plain text XML file, as most of the weapons are reworked Crysis guns. Literally everyone reading this now could do it.

EDIT: I honestly believe the problem, and I mean that, is with 1-2 people at PGI who think everything they say/do is gold. I think we can all guess who I'm talking about. But they refuse to take criticism or feedback and that means they are in the wrong industry. PGI's "like a family" attitude has lead to this situation where any other company would have... eliminated the problem.

You missed one
5. The highlanders are asymmetrical, that means it's whole left side is a shield in most builds. In other words they have agreat torso twist advantage.

It is not that the Highlander is OP, it is more that other mechs are trash.

Look at the atlas, low slung arms mean pebbles can interfere with your shooting.
The arms are also wide slung and tend to clip terrain on your sides.

It is very slow and not very maneuverable ,

It has less hardpoints then some medium mechs.

It has the same interior space as any other mech, less than some lights even.

It only can put 10 more points in CT than a highlander.

It is a much bigger target.

The torso hit boxes are huge, which translates into less effective armor protection for those areas.

Pro. the DDC can carry ECM

Will any of this be fixed? doubtful,
Will many things be nerfed into uselessness? probably,

is there any good news? Yes! titanfall closed beta opened yesterday!

I heard that Titanfall is a little too dumbed down for most people. I'm just hoping that there is lots of content (guns and upgrades, etc), otherwise the game will probably feel like a cheap indie game or something and be shelved quickly due to boredom.

But yeah, I'm kinda on the hunt for something else to sink my teeth into on the PC. I'm so over this game, and strangely enough, its not the abysmal weapons balancing or netcode issues, but the 45 degree angle hill nerf. True story, I rage quitted the other night because I was trying to get my jagermech to walk backwards up a 10 degree incline, and the bloody thing wouldn't budge. It's a simple thing, I know, but ever since they implemented the hill climbing nerf it seems like I have to fight this game every step of the way to get my mech to wherever it needs to go.

Things were so much nicer during the early open beta days ;)

nothing cheap to it, but it's your typical chaos incarnate twitch fest. No real tactics either.
