Well, if Paul gets the pulse laser #s right, I'll say nice things... for one day.

Now, if he could only up the pellet damage of LBX, then I'll forgive him.

I cant wait for cheese nerf, I wish this will be in todays patch, to see all that ''skilled'' players without hgn or other cheese ;)) ooh ^^

Because as far I saw, top tier hgn pilots are usually bad in medium-heavy without ppcs ^^, and there is weight limits on our way

lol

Good pilots are good pilots. Mech chassis and build are far less important than pilot skill. And that's not "clicking on pixels" skill, it's overall game skill: Situational awareness, prediction of enemy pilot's actions, understanding of chassis' strengths and weaknesses (particularly those of your target, so you know WHICH pixels to click on), etc, etc, etc.

If you expect buffs or nerfs to impact who stands where on the totem pole, you're going to be sadly mistaken.

Hah! I just mentioned that on our G+ community, when I posted pics of Russ's tweets.

I'll eat my socks if he actually makes MPL and LPL not suck. I'd be *SHOCKED*. Happy, but shocked.

Seriously. Hell, if anything, I'm a White Knight. But there are things to see here, and there's a whole lot of good ideas in this thread.

I don't expect any of them to be used.

I don't even expect any of them to be read... but they might be. It won't matter, though. Why? I remember back to the days immediately preceding Ghost Heat. I remember those days very, very clearly. I remember countless good ideas regarding dealing with high pinpoint alphas.

I remember people proposing Ghost Heat too. (By the way - those people can go die in a fire) And all the people explaining how no, that won't fix the problem, how it'll nerf a couple things but cause tremendous collateral damage and ultimately people will just shift to other combinations of weapons for high alpha strikes.

Sadly, I was right there, saying "Oh, of course they won't do that, it's just stupid. It wouldn't even solve the problem." Well, fool me once.

Anyways... yeah, I'm just ranting. Don't mind me.

I've just watched this play out too many times. Paul will ignore everything but what he wants to do, come up with an overly elaborate solution that doesn't actually solve the problem, and we'll go on - so many good ideas ignored, until the next issue. (Note: This issue will still exist, but it'll be "solved")

*sighs*

Please prove me wrong, Paul.

My team would be easily considered a Dark Knight -- they're pissed off with PGI and think they're beep beep beep beeps ;) -- and I'm probably in-between trying to understand both the positives and the negatives of a situation...

So what the hell is going on when the White Knights, the Dark Knights and the guys in-between are in-agreement?

Oh wait.. maybe it's because there IS a PROBLEM?

Cross-fingers we can get the PTR with lots of changes so we can test new builds - mechs etc for PGI.

That is about on par with the statement:

People with numbers in their names lack imagination and do poorly at games.

I take offense to this!

My machine guns and LB10x have extra crit chances! That makes them so much better than your PPCs!

This. This is the story of MechWarrior: Online.

Sometimes I wonder if he is the most committed hardcore troll ever. Even the opening pages where he talks about how much he enjoys pissing everyone off and running away speaks volumes.

Stop "poking the Dragon" Paul. Stop running away, too. Start freaking listening to people before you have noone left to tell you anything.

I said nice things when they fixed the PPC.
I said nice things when they fixed Artillery / Air Strikes.
I said nice things when they put missiles in the right direction.

I've said.. things that are not so nice when every time a positive direction starts it's dropped like a rock immediately after and left to rot.

What are you talking about? The PGI rots from the head down. Did they not teach you anything?

No, No, I think this time it will be different. He has a good designer heart, just sometimes it overcomes him. And I think we probably even deserved it a bit.

Since when do customers who have paid 100s of dollars for an incomplete game with shoddy balance, missed deadlines, functionality that doesn't work, et cetera deserved it?

I still want my cockpit medallions to work -- 6 months not earning loyalty points and other bonuses while I played and levelled the crappy Phoenix Mechs (not including the Shadowhawk <3 ;) ).. that's game stuff I paid for and isn't working.

I don't deserve any of this.. I'm a high-value, paying customer.

Look at the thread on AC/2 Ghost Heat issue. Even pinned up at the top of this forum. Seems like the feedback given was still ignored, otherwise ghost heat would have been removed from AC/2's. AC/2's, which are the very definition of a DPS weapon, not a big Alpha strike burst-damage weapon, somehow get afflicted by Ghost Heat.

Nah, my response is gonna be to just not pay more $$ into the game for now.

I hate when the "small team" thing comes up.

When we ask for features like destructible buildings.. or crazy support powers, etc.. that is when that excuse is applicable.

When you can stare at overwhelming negative feedback and then calmly go "...... yeah, no, I'm not changing a thing. haha" that's when it gets absurd. I've never quite seen this level of disconnect before, ever, anywhere. Nearly everything we've talked about in the thread could be implemented on lunch break by one person.

technically you answered your own question within your question. When I dropped my $80 for my Founders Package, I had no idea what I was going to get. I still don't think I got what I was hoping for. But I got what I deserved putting money on a basically unknown.

You did but some of us didn't, developers had some lines to follow since the begining and all was there, in these forums. I paid for what I read, not for what I dream...

Beign said that I will quote:
"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it"

So this same story will repeat over and over and we will have more and more white knights everyday. People will complain about the ppl that complains because they don't see anything wrong with the course that this game has been taken.

Now that we have that on the table I can't stress this enough... They DON'T care, they never did, most of these threads are smoke screens because at the end they will do w/e they have to do in order to get more money from new players or blind minded ones.

PGI proved there was a huge market for MechWarrior, then curb stomped our hopes & dreams.

In the right hands this franchise has huge potential to bring new people in; there's such a wealth of stuff to draw on from the IP for every facet of a game. So many ways they could have incorporated the lore and atmosphere into the game play, and so many ways the game play could have had massive amounts of depth. There are many things that set MechWarrior apart from other games, and these things, while old to us, have huge potential with people who missed it the first time looking for a new kind of experience.

There is so much they could have done. I'm not talking stuff with tons of work behind it. I'm not being unrealistic for their budget; it seems they've purposely tried to actively avoid doing anything with the franchise. And still as far as I know, PGI's core gameplay team did literally no work for about 1.4 years after Closed Beta leading to the mess we're in now.

You know the saddest thing? If PGI ever sells the game/franchise to another company with just one person who gives a damn, they could turn it around yet. The game isn't dated visually and has a solid core, always has. In the hands of someone competent, it could be fixed in about three months and would see a same week improvement.

EDIT: If anyone at PGI gives a post-mortem interview blaming the IP for this mess, I will personally organize an email lynch mob.

They Care, but they have a vision, and investors, an bills to pay. MW:O is a business, and to that end they will fluctuate on what they will do so long as it is profitable. I came into the Beta expecting PGI to break from their original intent. I expected them to go back and revise their plans. Sun Tzu said it best, All plans are good plans till the enemy is met. If a time comes that they make a change I cannot accept, I will pack my bags and leave. Just as other have already done.
