THEN I went to change to 'fullscreen' mode- and discovered that for some reason the game settings had been altered to 'fullscreen' without my approval.
At this point, I'm starting to wonder why 'arm lock' wasn't automatically turned back on by the last patch, since it has mucked with so many other settings.
Something about shifting to UI 2.0 has messed with or reset a lot of settings for the game that I, at least, can't understand why it would even touch. In addition to the fullscreen/window mode, the game completely reset all of my weapons groups seemingly randomly (as I mentioned in my response to the UI 2.0 test), and I'm starting to wonder if I should go through every single setting the game has just to make sure nothing else has been altered simply by the change to UI 2.0.
At any rate, the title to this topic is no longer relevant, but I would still like to note the following:
The change to UI 2.0 came with a lot of strange and unexplained settings foibles- the inability to set chain fire in the Weapons Group editor, resetting fullscreen/full window mode, the continued lack of an 'arm lock toggle' key or any way to set individual 'mechs to have or not have arm lock, a Mechlab that doesn't alert you when you try to leave it without clicking 'check out' that you haven't saved your changes... I'm growing to anticipate finding more such things and it is highly frustrating.
If, by any chance, you (PGI) could compile a list of things you know aren't being carried over across the UI change, and post it somewhere prominent, that would likely prevent a lot of aggravation and frustration for your players.
So would having explanations of Ghost Heat somewhere relevant, removing the 'Firepower' value from the Mechlab, and mentioning weapon minimum ranges and the UAC/5's ability to jam somewhere in the game itself, but I continue to hope that those will happen too.
