This is pretty much the bomb.
Edit: Before someone says to take off all but one jet, that's a preference thing. Do it if you want.

I'm keeping my Jenners and not considering a Firestarter until I see one actually do something noteworthy. Every one I've seen has done this same thing. Hide behind their assault/heavies then run out and get behind the lone enemy that is in a fight with 2 or more people and pump damage into their backs while they are distracted.

It's hard to judge how well the mech is until you see it do anything at all that requires even the smallest amount of skill. This play style that they all use can be done in any light mech. No game breaker there and I have yet to find one in game that will dog fight when I'm in my light so I can't even decide based on that.

Hmmm...
Lights being lights.... Are not tanks and best used as assassins when you want to kill stuff. Got to play smart in the assault mech dominated era. :(

Meanwhile... :(
The Ember !

The FS-K !

The FS-S
Nothing special in the 2 matches a row in HPG but skirmishes against other lights and some QQ.

Well, this 'Mech is only hours old at this point and I'm pretty confident, this is the meta build for it - http://mwo.smurfy-ne...4930f9fce4b2858

In a bad game, where I get over confident, I still typically manage 200+ damage and a couple assists. Typically I'm averaging 400 to 500. Thus far my best match in Gamebreaker is a 910 damage with 3 kills and 7 assists.

I love this 'Mech. The speed, survivability, weapons, and jump jets make this an absolute beast. If you see me on the battlefield, do whatever it takes to keep me from getting at your rear armor, cause I will open it up and the MGs will tear you apart.

In the right hands, this is one of the most dangerous 'Mechs. I cannot wait for the standard variants. I didn't think I was going to like this one, but I'm absolutely blown away at how much fun I am having.

Fixed.

I get it, I started on lights. I had over 200k xp on my Jenner D(s) before I grabbed a new mech. You don't have to explain to me about lights. That six kill game with 800+ damage was done with 6 small lasers. Is that meta?

I'm not saying that the FireStarer sucks, I only say that it does not replace the Jenner. That's it.

You've been pretty consistently saying the Firestarter sucks, actually. Heh, and all I'm saying is that the JR7-F is no longer the undisputed king of sub-40 energy platforms. The Firestarter would, in fact, like to dispute that particular crown most thoroughly. If not walk off with it.

The JR7-D(S) still does laser/missile mixed loads better, as it should be since the Firestarter has no missile hardpoints. But the FS9's got the JR7 beat where energy boating is concerned, mang.

Well, time will tell. Maybe I'll be proven wrong and the light mech build like Barry Sanders with less heatsinks but, more energy hard points will win out in the end.

You asked for something note worthy and videos were shown that a basic FS can already be note worthy.

For me small lasers suck for light vs light due to range issues. They are useful for taking down bigger, slower or distracted targets. Less useful for dog fights and once I know what you have.. I will just keep my distance.

Back to be more on topic...

The Ember is potentially extremely dangerous to lights and anything fragile.
Why ? The 4xMGs..... Very very deadly and spammable for chase downs and assassinations... And you know.. Once legged a light is almost certainly dead.

At this point of this...
I believe Jenner are still faster and more agile than a FS.

But the FS has the advantage of a better mech profile... Being slightly bigger and tall is not totally a bad thing. Eg. Streak splash damage should be active within with a 10cm splash radius... FS should be less likely to take double splash damage due to this..

A dual AMS FS-S might destroy an Oxide pilots game.

For me a 150kph, 35ton light energy boat is my kind of mech.
The arm actuators has to potential to give the FS an edge much like an Death Knell except... The FS-K can boat six of them in the arms, if it wanted too.

PS: Been piloting light since before HSR at 250ms++ ping. ;p

The 9S will be the competitive model, not the 9E. Twin AMS + 7 Energy Hardpoints = Youch.

You'll pretty much see (+2x AMS to all)

4 Meds
5 Meds
4 Meds 3 Smalls
3 Meds 4 Smalls
7 SPL

... and any mix of ratios of those. The 8th energy hardpoint on the 9E is practically a waste (way too hot to use it) and that 2nd AMS is super overpowered on the 9S.

Agreed, I've had most success with my 9S. the twin AMS is invaluable to your team mates.

Don't know how related this might be to the thread... but I recently purchased 3 Firestarters (love them btw)... Ember, and two standards... the one with dual AMS... awesome... except it's a frakking strobe light inside my cockpit when they are firing... thought I was out at night club'n with friends... very very disorienting.
