I'm getting to the point that i have my chassis variants that i want to elite... but i'm beginning to hoard CBills and wondered if it doesn't make sense to "bundle" some purchases.

Buying a mech and getting a good engine, good weapon loadout, etc costs less than buying everything individually, but some must be better than others.

Anyone feel like suggesting some great value gems for newbies like me?

It's only worth it if the equipmnt you want is in a chassis you want (even if you don't want that equipment in that mech), such as buying an Atlas K to get it's 300xl... Unless you're going to pilot that Atlas, buying it for parts is only a waste of c-bills.

The only time it's worth while is for an XL engine as XL engine mechs have a severe price cut compared to source material.

An example is the Shadowhawk 5M. Just from opening it you can see Smurfy gives you a price based on what stock is worth, but when you load the actual stock equipment the price cuts down by over a million cbills.

The 5M true value.

The 5M stock discount.

Curious, isn't it?

From an MC perspective, the champion Jenner is probably the most valuable thing in existence. For a couple of quarters more than buying a regular Jenner for MC, you can get one that comes with an engine that costs twice as much as the mech itself for cbills.

Another curious one is the Orion M. Again, two different prices. The first is the price based on how the game does prices. The actual stock loadout gives you the game's discounted price to make it "easier" for poor people to get. Yet in fluff, the real price of everything from the mech to what it has is in excess of 15,000,000 cbills.

I'm scratching my chin here in thought.

don't.buy.regular.mechs.with.MC.

there are SOME chasis worth buying and come with useful XL engines.

CN9-D comes with XL300

CTF-3D comes with XL280 (This is a must have, the 3D, not the engine)

JM6-DD comes with XL260

Yep. This is the "XL300 included" list: JR7-D(S),-F©;CN9-D;TBT-3C;DRG-5N©;ON1-M;AS7-K

It's one of the three most useful XL engines (along with XL280 and XL255)

See my comment above, both must-haves, IMO. The engine also comes on the Ilya and the Firebrand.

This engine is crappy, actually. It's the same weight as the XL265. The only reason to ever use it is because you have a JM6-DD and you haven't bought an XL265 separately. Also, in my experience, both of these engines occupy an awkward spot between the XL255 and XL280 and never seem to fit quite right. (XL255-XL280-XL300 are 1.5 ton increments and seem to be "sweet spots")

Why? Sure you can buy it with cbills and all, but when someone wants to take the shortcut to a new mech? This is not a bad thing ;)

And it pays the servers we all play on. Better some mechs sold for MC than some new and doubtful consumables or what not p2w...

Efficiency of money spent - even if I had a steady income I would probably not buy MECHS with Cbills (exception: Heros) because there is so much other to buy (Paint, cockpit items, camo-schemes....oh and mechbays)
