1. Uncheck, Arm Lock
2. Uncheck, Throttle Decay
(why the game defaults stick this handicap on people is beyond me)
3. Uncheck, Start in 3rd person (or turn it off with F4)
(that also locks your arms)

i've been seeing a bunch of people lately that have their mech gimped, but not being able to move their arms side to side to help combat faster mechs.

It's set up that way because, apparently, it's easier for new players unfamiliar with MechWarrior. Apparently, throttle decay is the norm in games these days and 3rd person is because they would walk into walls and not understand how to move. And arm lock is so they don't shoot arm weapons using their torso crosshair and not know why their shots are way off.

However, on trottle decay, some of us can make it work as an instant stopper. I use `-0 buttons for trottle control and my up arrow down arrow for speed with trottle decay, as I can maneuver better with lights by stopping properly. I've seen people obviously struggle with this however, and generally only a handful of us can make it fully work.

arm lock is a bad idea for the game.

A tutorial showing new players how to use their arms and torsos would be better but .... well they have not been very good at new player tutorials so far (new one is much better though need more)

ok so i think a good idea would be to say "pick up any of the previous Mechwarrior games, play their tutorial levels and you have the basics :)
