I hope not.
Doubtful. Massive discounts out of the blue may be a sign of trouble selling that product in physical stores but this is because those items take up limited shelf space and there is an investment made into each individual item. There is no such upkeep or overhead for digital goods.
Rather the player base has been vocal about the digital goods in game being far too expensive for what they offer with the $40 Hero Mechs getting the most criticism. A deep discount of 50% is a good way to test how that change in pricing will affect revenue and how this sale will compare to other sales without completely repricing every item in the store.
I doubt this will lead to the prices of mechs dropping in any real manner. Rather I would expect sales like this to be much more common and used as the means of targeting players like myself that are willing to spend money on a game we want to support but not willing to spend money when we feel that we are getting nothing of value in return (Camo designs being limited to one chassis is a very good example of lacking value keeping my wallet closed.)
Edit: Also I do hope that the pricing model for Mechs ends up following the League Of Legends model for Champions when it comes to MC purchases. As new Champions are added to the game older ones are reduced in price to lower price tiers. LoL does this with both In-game and Real-Money purchases but I don't believe that C-bill costs should be lowered in the same manner if MC costs are reduced due to mechs coming loaded with weapons and equipment. This already happened early in the CB, a stage where you could buy a mech, strip it and sell all of it's pieces for more than what you bought the mech for.
