This might mean that for example the single MG in Timber Wolf prime's CT could be fixed. It could mean that the flamer in the CT of the Adder is fixed.

Since the prime variant is the one that gets the bonuses, and the variant is defined by the CT used, you might be stuck with bringing useless weapons to the field with that CT.

I hope this isn't the case, but if it is, I'd bet it's going to lower the desireability of these variants greatly despite the match bonuses.

Wouldn't it be "balistic" and "energy" in your examples and you could change it accordingly?

The part I quoted from the devs stated explicitly that in some cases weapons, not just hardpoints are fixed.

If thats the case I suspect it would only be the handful of hardcore canon quotes, like a Beagle in the Koshi for example (all variaints in 3050 have it but I don;t remember where )

But thats a very small handful of mechs. Not worth worrying about I suspect

In SOME cases. The Adder's Flamer is fixed, the Timber Wolf's MG is not.

This bit scares me a bit:

Quote

This is the core of the Mech, with all the modular bits stripped out, and what remains cannot be customized at all. These include:
----
The occasional weapon or other piece of equipment (e.g. jump jets) that is included as part of the base configuration

This might mean that for example the single MG in Timber Wolf prime's CT could be fixed. It could mean that the flamer in the CT of the Adder is fixed.

The quote refers specifically to equipment that is listed in the BattleTech Technical Readouts (TROs) as being "fixed equipment" by virtue of being built-into an OmniMech's frame rather than being mounted in an OmniTech pod.

Examples of such fixed equipment include the Flamer mounted in the Puma's Center Torso, the first five Jump Jets mounted on the Thor (one in the CT, the remaining four filling the legs), and the Targeting Computer in the Masakari's Right Torso - such items may not be removed from the OmniMech, nor may they be moved to another location within the OmniMech.

By contrast, the CT-mounted Machine Gun on the Mad Cat Prime is pod-mounted (and, on other configurations, is replaced with a laser of one sort or another) - the Prime "variant" in MWO may have a fixed ballistic hardpoint in the CT (which will be limited to one-crit weapons, since there is a fixed Endo-Steel crit consuming the second CT critical slot) while the Mad Cat A may instead have a fixed energy hardpoint in the CT, but the Mad Cat Prime's CT-mounted MG is not fixed equipment.

Lol @ the three hardpoints on the Summoner. Also, I've still haven't understood if we'll ever be able to tune armor values on Clanmechs so.. unfortunately the Summoner will ever be in my hangar, although I loved that thing in MW4 (along with the Hellbringer).

Fixed!

Thanks for clearing this. Shame about the Adder.

Hmmm, I was just thinking. A Madcat with 3xAC (LT, CT, RT) and a sharkmouth (like the old tigeshark fighter planes)

Now that would be sexy.......

They really do need a camo pattern like that. It'd be amazing for the Stalker, Mad Cat, Catapult and Awesome.
