So that one game, when I fought 3 Echos a Romeo and a Sierra was a little confusing and made calling targets via letter designations next to impossible. The fact, that 'Mechs change their letters mid-game is seriously annoying (lot more so than having weird letters like R or S) and a fix would be welcome as soon as possible.
But the newest targeting-related issue I have run into is that even though I targeted a 'Mech (pressed the "R" button) I did not get any readings. I was able to target every other 'Mech in game, just not a particular Cent' (in one game) or whatnot (in other games). I checked with my teammates and they had the same issue with the Cent (I was dropping solo when I had the issue again, and didn't describe the issue to PUGs, so no feedback on those other occasions) - we couldn't target it, and thus get any info on its loadout or damage and that is a serious gameplay affecting issue.
Please look into it and make sure you can get rid of this bug.
Aand as a side note, also please make the new UI actually user friendly, not a convoluted and overly complicated mess that is missing the key information and is a chore to navigate trough.
It's as if it was designed by the same guy who has brought us the Ghost Heat - needlessly complicated and not doing what it is supposed to or doing it in the most complicated way possible.

If it happens again, try taking some screenshots and attaching them, a DXDiag and an Omicron log to a support ticket listing time (and timezone) date and map.

Happened a few times actually (the messed up letter designations happens more often than not, the targeting issue is less frequent but a more severe bug).
It's impossible to screenshot something not happening, but I'll try to make a video with a commentary.
I just found a thread that discusses the second issue and luckily it seems the devs are already looking into it, so that's good news. Hoping to see this fixed soon (the non-TM version).

I was targeting a Victor and right before my eyes he went from L to M to N. All this happened while i was trying to get my teammates to target the Victor which didn't happen near fast enough because of this issue.

Marvyn, this is not transient. All of the people I played with since the patch are experiencing this.
Seems most noticeable with M and N. But others change too.
We speculated that this would relate to there being 6 extra targets, being the turrets. Though they show no designation in game, therefore I am thinking that it may be related. So it would seem that M,N,O,P,Q,R just may be randomly floating.
Come to think of it, there seemed to be a loss and regaining of target correlation.....Have M in view and targeted, lose sight of M, and lose lock, resight same mech, lock, designation N. Just a thought.

Transient issue? *facepalm and shaking head*
It is a constant issue and makes the 12v12's much more difficult.
Perhaps the developers should play the game more often or are they tired of seeing the broken mechanics?

constant issue since UI2.0 introduction. already reported multiple times, see if they fix in next patch.
