I just want to say that I really do appreciate you guys working to get this out to us. I just want to ask if it possible to give us the option for the old lab in the log in?

Half the fun for me is building mechs, and after a few hours using the new UI I found it unbearable. I know this is very much a work in progress but at least for me its a miserable experience now. I still want to play MWO but the new UI is physically giving me a headache after staring at it for less then 20 min.

I would love to be able to go back to the old lab just for the flow of the interface and less eye strain trying decipher what I am looking at. There are countless other threads breaking down the issues so I dont want to get into that.

The initial look of the new UI is slick but there are FPS shooters that require less mouse movement and clicking right now. And at least for me even the simplest tasks are a chore now. Thats the biggest issue for me right now.

I understand the the new UI is the backbone for the future plans of MWO, but until those components are ready, please find a way to let the few of us that are having issues with the new look use the old interface so we can keep playing.

its not that bad man, + its not yet in the finishing stages, dont come to a final conclusion yet. If they go back to UI 1.5 i just might scream, i still have loads of fun building my mechs.

I agree, there are good things, and this is a great step forward. Just curious if we could have the option to use the old or the new. As they add new things and improve the flow it will just get better. Just for me its a rather unpleasant experience right now.

I am totally with OP, building mechs is currently a pain in the...
This new UI has zero user friendliness when it comes to building a mech, switching out weapons or finding a new engine. Right now I am forced to build a concept mech at smurfys and very carefully try to get this done in game with the new UI. The last part of the fun has vanished for me with UI 2.0 (i knew it).

Curious, I find it way easier to use.

If you like it, be happy that you´re not in my position ;)

I have always been in favour of the BT-record sheets style of presenting a mech, where you have all the information on one page. With the new UI you still need to click on every single limb to show up and by the time i´ve reached the right leg i already forgot what i did with the left arm a minute ago. The equipment/engine list is/are also a mess - looking at it/them makes me wanna run away...
I just can´t find any improvement when comparing it to the old UI

Now that HAs to be a bold lie Dymlos. I can see the hope that it will open new improvements and offer better choices, in the future. Currently, how can you compare ? How do you tell the weight of your currant mech mid build ? How do you look at your mech overall ? I can see some things will have value in the future, but the current system is the worst one ever put out. I am not referring to in game issues. I'm talking mechlab. Unintuitive, misleading, clunky, ect. I see the work that went in, just cant begin to see why they put it out. It's not ready for realse yet. I understand the it needs time to be fixed, just not sure why it's been put out yet...just say, "e need more time to do it right." Or just clone smerfys. Fast, fun and efferent. That's the key, who cares how slick it is, if it does not DO THE JOB.

How can I tell the current weight? It right there in the bottom right corner. How to look at your mech overall, mouse over it in the mechlab.

It's not a lie, it's easier for me since I know how it works.

Intuitive means that you know how it works WITH OUT A MANUAL. This is UNINTUITIVE. We have many versions to compare to. Still, I'm glad there are some people enjoying the new 2.0. Sorry if I suggested you lied.

an option to window the ui would be nice, I play on a 60inch plasma in the loungeroom and during long sessions I drag the ui window about to prevent burning ( nothing in the actual game full screen seems to burn to any noticeable extent )

also people using ifinity have issues with full screen ui and would benefit greatly.

It may not be streamlined but it's not unusable... I'm reserving total judgement until the smurfy-like mechlab is released, April I think. Till then all we can do is give feedback to PGI.

I agree that the mechlab is seriously hurting as it is right now. However, they are apparently making it like smurfy's come March and I honestly think that will be awesome.
We were warned it wouldn't be perfect and damn... understatement. But, I think because of its flexibility it will allow the dev's to make changes (requested or not) much faster and more efficiently. So that is good. Also good is the base from which CW and other (hopefully) cool features will be implemented.

However I spent 20 minutes last night trying to find on of my XL engines that I swap between mechs (cheap ******* here, I only buy 1 of a certain engine type). So the Smurfy's interface can't come soon enough.

It is passable though for now and I can deal with it for a month. If this was permanent it would suck but it's not so... willing to grind through the crappiness of the mechlab for a month. With all these nice mechs on sale though all I want to do is customize the ones I've bought and it's a bit of a pain in the...

Just to sort of add to this, I did a little experiment shall we say.

While my Artemis IV LRM20's were still missing, I pissed about with my CPLT-C4 using the 2 Streak SRMs I had, plus a Narc, TAG and Flamer, with max armour.
It did better than expected, but once my support ticket was solved, and I got the c-bills to buy new Artemis 20's, and I counted how many clicks it took from my desktop, to unequip the silly loadout (7 items), and put in the proper replacements (10 items), and return to my desktop.

60 clicks and 16 different pages.
At least half of the button presses required moving roughly halfway across my screen or more.
This does not include adjusting Armour Values.
(which added at least another 20, just going through and checking them, so probably 100+ total, just to change the weapons loudout and armour on 1 mech)

UI2.0 will cause me to stop playing and stop giving money for the premium account every month. Way too busy, one can't tell which hardpoints are on a body part, very difficult to navigate.

I re-imaged my PC and came back to this new UI. Total junk and I will vote to ditch it with my wallet.

I'm with the OP. It's taking me waaaaay longer and waaaaay more mouse clicks to config a Mech than it did with the old UI.

It's not just a matter of becoming more familiar with it. Stuff you need to do require you 'navigate' from one section to the next, far more than we used to.

I still haven't found a place to easily see what engines I have equipped across my inventory of Mechs. It seems like I have to select each Mech in turn, and then go into its loadout, just to see what engine each has?

Agree with OP.

I think while the backend might be a good thing to have to do improvements in the future, and it sure looks pretty, it's functionality is many many step backwards from UI 1.

LIke many of the posters here, I find it difficult to see at a glance what mech has what. Takes more than double the time it takes to refit a mech. All the important stuff is tiny and in the corner, or require a mouse over, while the little 'nice' things that are unimportant functionally are front and center.

I too would like the option to use UI 1.

UI 2.0 isn't a step backwards. It's a fall down the entire stairwell of the IDS building backwards. It's like whoever designed it got paid by how many times we had to click to get something accomplished. The old UI was simple, gave you the information at a glance, and functioned well. It needed a few additions and a better social aspect. That was all. 2.0 is an over complicated nightmare.
