Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: GA-78LMT-S2
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD FX™-4100 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8174MB RAM
Page File: 3335MB used, 13009MB available

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce GTX 660
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11C0&SUBSYS_26603842&REV_A1
Display Memory: 4038 MB
Dedicated Memory: 1990 MB
Shared Memory: 2048 MB
Current Mode: 1600 x 900 (32 bit) (60Hz)

I understand I don't have the best CPU, but I should at least be able to get some sort of a sold FPS. On all medium settings with PostFX turned off, I get less, or equal to 30. I have all the newest drivers, and I am playing at 1600x900 resolution. So, what's the problem?

Turning off the Post Processing involves going into the Advanced tab, which seems to be crunchy broken. Get out of the Advanced tab and set Medium there, and ether wait for a patch, figure out if the rumors of "just reinstall" are true, or else delve deep into Col. Pada's Pack and create for yourself a user.cfg.

I have an ATI card, so correct if I'm wrong here, but doesn't nVidia have some kind of profile for MWO? If that's true, maybe giving that a try would help. Your specs are certainly good enough to be playing this game. On my ATI card (laptop 8970m) I set pretty much everything to "Use Application Settings" and that seems to cause the least issues.

If you're referring to GeForce Experience, the profile doesn't allow me to change anything. I do not know about any other profiles

it seems to be a problem with the fx cpu's, I'm runnng a GTX660 and a AMD FX 8350, even edited the user.cfg just to get the 60 frames with not too many drops

How did you edit the user.cfg?

And turning on Post processing decreases my FPS even more

I can't give you the .cfg now because I'm not on my PC.
But I can tell you the other things I did:

- Change the energy setting on your Windows to high performance.
- Set the priority of MWO to High.
you can either do that yourself each time you start it or use this to change mwo in the registry to start with high priority
http://ilja13.mywebc...o_high_prio.reg

Found here:
http://mwomercs.com/...sys-spec-files/
There are also some user.cfg files but I think I used another one from somewhere
(the game looks bad now but its running on decent frames, as I said I can give you the file I used later)

EDIT:
here is my user.cfg

Warning, game looks like **** but works fine for frames

I also added something from here to the config
http://mwomercs.com/...-core-machines/

try it if it works for you, but I can't guarantee anything
Spoiler

___

I guess you've already read my other thread and the suggestion from MercJ to switch to medium settings.
but watch out if you go to the advanced settings (wich you should do to turn down shadows and particles)
the new UI mixed up the settings there.

Low settings isn't low

low = high

medium = low

high = medium

very high = high

TURN OFF post processing is what was recommended ;) .... i dont know alot about that cpu u have but at first glance it does look like one of AMD's weaker ones? apologies if i am wrong... nothing wrong with your grfx card at all, just mwo is insanely cpu dependant. if u getting around 30 fps that may be all u can expect. also probably is worth your while looking into a slight cpu upgrade or overclocking that one if your into that kind of stuff.... would likely improve your experience a far bit.

http://www.tomshardw...-28-4100-gaming this says it all  sorry man. it has also been said on here that the"bulldozer" cpu's get eaten alive by MWO :-/ .... u can likely upgrade for pretty cheap i would think.

Software aside (some of which is out of your hands, sadly), something a lot of folks forget in the equasion is the monitor. Can it keep up with your hardware?

Eh, thanks anyways, I know I need to upgrade, but that's the hard part. Running in a light in engaging in battles at <30 fps isn't that easy.

Some monitors can handle higher frame rates than others. It may be a minor thing, but it's something you may want to consider if you have an older one like mine.

I'd have to learn how to OC, but I could probably manage it.

The game actually requires a good CPU. Oh my goodness, it's madness I know!

Last time, I had some interest on a "good CPU".. They told me, that a 486-er is a good one... But, that was too expensive for me... so I played some another years, with my old 286-er...

So, what is a "good CPU"?

Actually, I would know too, why my fps drops about 40%, (after 8 month of near acceptable gameplay level), even on old maps, like Forest Colony or Frozen City, at the last 2-3 month ...

With a thread resurrection instead of your own thread just the whine without any details it is quite the point.

This is the hardware forum where nerds help non nerds with their tech problems.

The game requires a good CPU most of the time with a solid overclock because it is very demanding on per core performance.

So if your relying on old world tech or AMD FX processors then there lies the problem.
