Now that the Mechlab is full screen, I often have it alt-tabbed while searching so that I can do other things with the down time.

Rather than constantly switching back to see if I found a game yet, I suggest PGI implement something that Dota 2 has incorporated: when the matchmaker finds a game while you are alt-tabbed, the icon in the task bar lights up and it plays an audio cue to let the player know their match is ready.
