Why are ballistic weapons so huge on the Battlemaster? It looks strange. Has anyone else noticed?

I don't have any pics but if you see one on the field and it is carrying ballistics then it is hard to miss. The AC/2 alone looks like an artillery piece. It looks even worse when you start adding more to the arm. Just ugh!

I also noticed that PPCs won't fit into the torso and stay there. One is next to the cockpit and the other will shift to the right or left. It looks weird and it is annoying as heck.

I dunno, to me it seems like the battlemaster's weapons are the right size. It's the thunderbolt that has piddly tiny sized ballistics.

I agree that they are puny on the Bolt. The right size is somewhere inbetween.

The Autocannon is a direct-fire ballistic weapon, firing HEAP (High-Explosive Armor-Piercing) rounds at targets either singly or in bursts.
Different manufacturers and models of autocannons have different calibers (25mm-203mm) and rates of fire. Due to this, autocannons are grouped into generic "classes" of autocannons with common damage ratings, with Autocannon/2s having an extremely long range at the cost of having a very small damage output.

that can explain the sizes. an ac 5 may be anywhere from 88 to 105mm ac2 any were from like 25 to 50

I like the sizing, I just don't like how all three are placed on the arm... bit of an ocd type thing I guess.

Mostly I find is silly that the 'Mech insists on using the low slung ballistics mount first and the knuckle-gun mounting when fielding multiple ballistics.

There used to be a kind of 'convention' of calibres by the writers , it was roughly dmg = calibre+

So AC2 was 20mm - 40mm
AC 5 was 50mm - 75mm
AC10 was 90mm - 120mm
AC20 was 150mm - 203mm

It was never specified in any rule book, but if you read enough of the source books where they do specify calibres for weapons it's around this ratio.

But it's really only a flavour thing.

I noticed this too. if you put an AC/5 and an AC/2 on the same arm of a battlemaster you can see that they are actually the same size. It looks like they used the same model for each of them.

Surely weapons should look the same no matter what mech they are mounted on. As it is the Gause on a Tbolt looks like a matchstick and on the Victor its huge. Its a scale mess.

One of the biggest difference between weapons is : The PPC on the torso of an Awesome, it's pretty big, and the PPC on the arm of my Jenner, it's very very small...

How do you explain that? There is different "Caliber" for an energy weapon too? It's just because the game designers don't have take this under consideratrion when they draw the 'mech......

If i will put the awesome's PPC shape on the Jenner, i will be completely desequilibrate =)

If someone makes my 3 AC/2s on my Battlemasters arm look weeny small and pathetic I'm going to kill someone.....

Seriously it's a super bonus that a make both looks good and runs good. It doesn't happen all that often.
