For a personal project, I need some info about Mercenaries.

Are there any Mercenary units existent in 3050 that speak german or have german as their operation language?

If possible, please add Mechs used by that unit and paintschemes ;)

I would assume you could claim most any Merc unit originally hailing from the Lyran Commonwealth would have a strong chance of speaking German, if nothing else as a second language. Kinda like how most of the novels are written in English, with a few words or phrases in Japanese from the Kurita characters.

I always imagined that most of the POV dialogue in the Battletech books is in the native dominate language of which ever group the chapters scene focuses on, Capellians speaking Chinese, Kurtains speaking Japanese, Lyrans speaking German ect, with English the universal language for cross cultural communication, kinda like how international standards use English as a standard universal language for international air traffic communications.

I've not read the German language novels, but I suspect if there were any mercs present in them, you could claim they are all would be speaking German natively :(

I should not say this... but I only own one Battletech book. The rest of them is at my fathers place, he will not give them to me :(

So, any unit I could search for on Camospecs? Knowing their mechs and colours is critical

Well.. I assume some merc units are made by people of different backgrounds, but some could as well be made of people from the same SS or even the same area.. Maybe you could use instead a regular unit from the Lyran half of the FedCom..

Would the "Blackstone Highlanders" fit?

Hard to tell - have all FieldManuals Mercenaries available - but there is never the language mentioned.
The best guess - was a introduction story - where a pilot of the Kirkpatrick’s invaders has a german accent.

Of course german is a main language in LyrCom and RepRasal - and it is the official language of the Hanseatic League.

The capital of Ark Royal OLD CONNAUGHT - is mentioned as a 19th Century German village (bavaria?!)
So you have a lot of german ties within several Mercenarie Companys.

The Blackstone Highlander have there ties with the LyrCom - in special with Blackstone industries.

Another guess -maybe the Dragonslayers
http://www.sarna.net...i/Dragonslayers
(you would like the paint sheme)
- the names of the COs and XCOs can't hide their German Origin

Last not Least - I'm pretty sure almost every bigger unit founded (first contract) with the LyrCom - even other Factions could be able to speek german - depends on the planet - towns, villages they grew up.
And maybe - somehow somewhere there is a company of a bigger Merc formation - that uses German as operating language - while for example talking "official" English or Spain with the bataillon or regimental commanders.
