I guess it was my bad, the example of LRMs vs an ECM light should have implied a 1v1 situation such as end of match or where other mechs are too far a way to interfere.

I would happily duel you in my RVN-3L once private matches come out to illustrate this issue. All that would be required is to keep 200m away and moving for your cat to be unable to lock me and make dumbfired LRMs a very unlikely possibility.

On the other note I suppose I did not make it clear that BAP, TAG, NARC, and PPCs would not be removed at most their electronic effects would change, PPC would stay the disable active ECM or sensors for a few seconds, TAG would illuminate a target the same as now it would just have more use due to passive sensor systems, BAP would probably be a permanent UAV with short range which stays near the equipped mech. Keep in mind that these are only quick ideas.

The other point I could have been clearer on is that an active ECM jams ALL sensors within the range including friendly making it require much more attention e.g. keep it on in a brawl if you are taking lots of missile fire but shut it off if there are only a few missiles

And I'd be happy to stay at that range and wail on you with both LRM's and streaks. That's actually the optimal range in my A1.

Yes, I ignored that part, because that's actually worse. If you could jam friendly sensors, it would be too temping for some to grief their own team with ECM. If you were called out or reported, all you would have to do is look dumb or ignorant and you would get off Scott free.

ECM is intended for stealth, and not reducing missile fire for brawling.

Very difficult to see new replies when my posts aren't quoted.
