Yep, one of the ONLY 'mechs in the whole game that actually benefits from single heatsinks, too, if you decide to run an even smaller engine to beef the armor. Which is pretty common.
Terrible 'mech in serious drops, but I agree, they are hilarious puggers.

No, it has been around for a few months, advocated by Koniving every now and then. He also has a youtube channel, you might want to check it out. He is probably the player that experiments most and tries all kinds of weird things. You ever heard of the 7 ERPPC Battlemaster? Yeah that's him, and it actually doesn't explode by heat. Or the 6xLRM15 Roflpult, another one of his children. Probably the funniest thing I saw was a Highlander that was riding on a Spider at 150 kph, straight into the enemy base...
Oh yeah, nice video B33f, you certainly know how to sell that stuff

LOL I still am! but Im not ever crazy enough to run a mech with less armor than a locust. BEEF takes that cake! Although I dont think he gets off all 60 rounds with that little armor very often.

The week the Illya came out I, and others had this build in battle, so its been around for more than a year.

You sir, are all kinds of awesome. I thought this was going to be a video for the 3x AC10 Ilya looking at the title, since the Guass doesn't go boom (unless it gets shot).
Your commentary is the best. Subbed.
Edit: I ran your exact build in a premade on the Comstar TS for a while... Got killed with 0 damage by a savvy Jenner, then the next 5 games I didn't score less than 2 kills, 300 damage. This build is awful(ly good!). It might not be the best, bu *** certainly is amusing hanging back behind the second line and nailing any enemy dumb enough to turn their back. One shotted three Atlas' tonight, and that makes me happy.
Overall I did better in this build that I did in the 2x UAC/5, 2x PPC VTR I run occasionally, much to the amusement of the guys on Comstar.
Danke schon!

(Still, on average the damage/kills do not differ too much with the twin-Gauss variants due to survivability but every so now and then... the kills per minute...

Ran this mech on and off since the dawn of time, very very impressive with the right lance. Very weak in a bad one!
It one shots mechs from miles away which never fails to have me howling down TS to my team.
2X Gauss with 3X ML is better all-round but it's not regarded as such a potent build.
3X Gauss is just BADASS.

Gauss Rifles
The Gauss Rifle will operate as is but only 2 Gauss Rifles can be charged at one time. For example, the Dire Wolf 'Mech can theoretically equip 4 Gauss Rifles. This would be VERY nasty on the battlefield since Gauss Rifles do not generate heat and can sync their charges all at the same time. Due to the amount of energy it takes to charge a Gauss Rifle, any given 'Mech can only charge and sustain 2 Guass Rifles at any one time. If you put all 4 Gauss Rifles on the same weapon group and hit and hold the key, you will see that only 2 of them will charge. If you do not fire them, the two charged weapons will discharge and the other two Gauss Rifles will instantly start charging. If you do fire the first two Gauss Rifles, you can start charging the other two immediately. Basically this translates to only being able to fire 2 Gauss Rifles at the same time. This mechanic will also be carried over to the Inner Sphere version of the Gauss Rifle.
RIP sweet prince.
