So balance ballistics better. I would be fine if AC's fired a bunch of smaller shells doing 1-4 damage each pending on the calibre to spread out the damage better. They would still be insanely powerful in terms of DPS relative to heat.

Besides. Ballistic boating Assaults are coming with omnimechs and there is no way in hell thats going to be stopped. The IS lineup needs an assault mech capable of answering that, the mauler and the King-Crab would be excellent additions for that.

I'd be over the moon if the Banshee-5S 'griff variant came online, but I think that's too much to hope for. Besides, it wouldn't feel like I was in a Banshee unless I was punching a mech in the jaw or chopping them up with a jagged axe, and melee/collisions are on the far, far backburner.

If I had to bet, it'd be either a Zeus or the Mauler. 4 AC2s, dual ERLL, and Lurms just for spice (as if it needs 'em?). Yes, please.

Clan Response Pack!

Assault: Mauler

Heavy: ??????

Medium: ?????

Light:???????

Actually Id laugh if its similar to the cartoon:

Assault: Mauler
Heavy: Penetrator
Medium: Bushwacker
Light: Urbanmech

I think the Mauler is gonna be broken though. Lets face it with a standard loadout:
2 Er-LL (1 energy per arm)
4 Ac2's( two in each torso)
2 LRM15s( shoulders)

Taken from the 3050 Tech Manual.

All we will see is quad UAC5s, dual Ac20s, dual Guass + dual PPC's..... Im all for ACs being Davion and all, but it will make the Atlas, Highlander, Battlemaster, and im sure the rest of assaults obsolete.

Another good additional mech would be the Crusader 65 tonner!

And I thought PGI end of last year already said they were not sticking to the timeline anyhow?

Crusader is an Unseen from Macross so it won't be in game. It resides in the pit of Harmony Gold never to see the light of day.

Maybe. Can't jump so there is that and it won't be faster than a HGN.

I'd prefer the Banshee, but the Mauller will be... interesting.
4 LB10Xs! Woho!

No JJs at least, so there is that.

I'd love a Crusader. One of my favorite TT mechs. Not happening though, it's unseen.

To be honest, I'm kind of sick of humanoid mechs at this point. Therefore, I'd rather see something like the King Crab. Although it can mount two AC/20s, the disc shape of its body would make it particularly susceptible to indirect fire weapons. Therefore, LRMs and air/artillery strikes would be a hard counter to this mech.

While my vote still goes to Banshee in the 103rd NGNG podcast Bryan did confirm they are working on a Mauler concept. But just the concept so it's still a ways out.

Quad LB-10's would be interesting, but I've got a feeling that quad uAC/5 would be nastier. You'd have to drop the engine rating down to manage the LB-10/X's. Quad AC/5s might be interesting as you could then have enough space to mount an XL...then again, looking at the thing, not sure how well the thing would take an XL. Perhaps if those missile pods disappear it might not be horrible.

At least the balistic slots are fairly low slung on it.

So, last night on the NGNG stream Daeron confirmed that the art department is working on the Mauler. No date on it being released. My best guess is late this year, maybe early next. But then again, this technically isn't even confirmation that it will ever be playable in game.

Thoughts, opinions?

**** yeah, everytime someone makes a thread saying what's the next mech or what mech do they want, I always type the MAULER. 4 ballistics on a 90ton mech, hells yeah.

It could actually be a pretty diverse mech. You've got the Ballistics which will be able to quad of everything up to LB-10's, not quad of the bigger weapons.

Or you could do with an XL engine and mount lots of missile racks. Mechs with 15's typically get 2 missile hard points for those locations, so you could do at least quad 10s, if not up to quad 15s. If they decide to be nice and make the LLs 2 energy hard points, 2 MLs in each of the arms for adequate defence for things in close...or you could drop the missiles and go for like quad LLs and some SRMs.

This could be quite the diverse mech.

I figure a popular config for a Mauler would be 2 AC20s with (depending upon missile hardpoints) anywhere from 12 to 16 SRM tubes.
