Topic title pretty much sums it up. ...allow independent settings for both Mechlab and Gameplay. I run a high resolution monitor and the new UI looks/works terrible at fullscreen, but recently reset all my settings and was surprised how much more usable and fitting UI 2.0 was at 1280x720 windowed! Additionally, this allows me to watch Teamspeak, browse the forums, watch NGNG, etc while building mechs, putting together 12-mans, or waiting to find a match (1-3min commonly) switching automatically to fullscreen when the action starts!

So, who's with me? Who wants the ability to have a windowed Mechlab and fullscreen Gameplay again?

Yes please, but only because it would make looking at smurfy's (or any other mechbuilder app) as a guide on the same screen easier without requiring dual monitors.

yes! i already suggested this the day ui2.0 came out, but it deserves another mention.

i found the best way around it in the meantime is to set the game to 'windowed' in settings, and when you start a new drop you 'alt-enter' to make it full screen. once you finish your game 'alt-enter' again to go back to windowed mode

unfortunately windowed mode isn't exactly a window as it's full screen still so you have to alt-tab out or minimize manually, but it's much easier to deal with than being in 'fullscreen' mode

Couldn`t care either way, alt+tab works just fine for me. If somepone needs to be able to see his TS channel or watch porn while configuring mechs or searching for a match, that`s no skin off my back.

Would have voted accordingly for Mother Of Ruffles (a yes vote would mean I have the definite option not to use it and keep FS /window for both, which your post and poll do not really allude to), but I do not vote in public polls and /or polls where one or more options have an obvious bias or imply unnecessary BS. The former is the case here.

So much want.

Don't know why the option was removed to be honest. Apart from almost breaking the mechlab at 6000px wide, it also keeps my gfx card running full tilt al the time which is hot and noisy...

Just another one of those obvious common sense consumer Usability engineering mod's, that the (PGI Think Tank) seem incapable or unwilling to incorporate at the point of conception. ;)

...so got you down for a "Yes, whether or not you'd use it..."

Nice.

(And yes, the proposed change would preferably allow you to set both Mechlab and Game to the same fullscreen high-res if you so desired...)

*searching for a game right now, I think... alt-tabbed out so maybe it's started and I'm AFK, maybe not....

...I'd better go check...

There was a dev comment on this somewhere, that changing from windowed mode to full screen and back creates too many edge/race conditions and was the source of many of the CTD bugs going into or out of matches.

So, you know, stability.

Also, as has been mentioned, [ALT]+[TAB] is like, just there. Live it. Love it.

Seriously, if i can manually change my res to 1600*900 windowed in the lab, launch the game and then change to 6038*1080 fullscreen, why can't i set the game to do it automatically?

...because PGI doesn't want you to be browsing the forums, taking part in community/faction discussions, or otherwise utilizing your time in a meaningful manner while you spend 1/2 your game-time waiting for something or another to actually get to shoot robots.

I play on a big tv and sit a little ways back. It's nice for me. The text in the mech lab however is too small. If I could change the resolution of the mech lab so that it was lower and everything were bigger I would accept seeing fewer mechs in my list to be able to read what was going on. This was less of a problem in UI 1.5

For the first time in a long time I bought another game recently. It was after UI 2.0 because I just can't read anything nor see anything in the mechlab.

This is the only game where I really have a problem.

...I've been waiting for a game for ~2min.

...so I alt-tabbed, wonder if I'm just sitting in a match doing nothing or if I'm still searching.

...who knows...
