Gentlemen,

Like knights of old, we can now dual and challenge each other to a brutal show down. I have found that many of my builds were rather inadequate against a single foe as they were built mainly towards my enemy being distracted. I have now participated in a large amount of 1 v 1s relative to the time its been available. I have noticed that when you spot your enemy and he spots you, the game will be over within a minute.

So I believe a thread must be made where we provide our steed builds of glistening steel and weapons that belch forth furious justice.

I shall provide my heavy chassis that I have yet to lose in.

The back armour you want to be almost apostasy low, as once you and your foe have locked each other there is little chance of you being shot in the back. Will also protect that side torso.

Again gentlemen this build would not fare well in a long drawn out match you have to keep the mind set that you're in a 1 v 1 that when you have spotted each other (assuming you're of the same weight class) the game is going to be over rather soon.

Hail,

IMHO, stay away from XL builds for dueling.

Jagers are weak in the side torsos, and while the LBX10s are good for stripping armor, they aren't very good for pinpoint damage. In a 1 v 1 matchup, the man with the most accurate first couple of shots, with the highest alpha is going to win. DPS counts for nothing, and neither does shotgun ballistics and missiles. I'd venture a guess, you haven't played anyone worth half a sh*t, if you're undefeated in.....that.....

As yet untested in a true duel, though a modified version works pretty well in public matches: CTF-4X (front/rear armor allocation not shown)

All the weapons except the flamers are heat-neutral. The flamers can be used to bring the opponent to 90% heat, without fear of incapacitating yourself. Once your twin rifles make a nice big hole in their armor, their components are claimed by your machine guns.

I've also found the 4X to be hilariously durable with a standard engine. The range of the gauss mostly makes up for the lack of mobility, though the build is weak vs LRMs. LRMs aren't very strong 1v1 anyways though, so the greatest threat to this design is a fast sniper.

I can't decide if you're kidding or not. If you are, it's hilarious. If you're not...well....that just makes it even funnier.

Here is my ON1-K, tweaked a bit for a more dueling role i.e. less ammo, bigger engine.

That's more like what I'd expect to see from a dueling mech. Good build, but it looks to run a bit hot. I'd probably swap out the pulse weapons for straight beams, and add some heat sinks. Just personal preference though.

OR...something like this:

High alpha, good heat management, and the whole left arm, and left torso to absorb damage, while still being able to maintain decent DPS. Also...I'd probably change the armor around. If you're dueling heavy vs heavy, chances are they aren't going to get a shot at your back, so I'd probably front load the armor a bit more...say, 6 or 7 in the rear torsos and add more to the front. Again...just personal preference.
