Still...

I think it'd be interesting to see what the staff at PGI would make if they could create their own mech to add to the game.

They've been at work on this title for a long time now, it seems reasonable that they would get to leave some sort of mark on the franchise, even if it's not considered canon. Something like a "flagship" to represent the effort the staff has put in.
