So, I just bought a 733, hoping to turn it into a proper Lurm boat, seeing how I started Highlanders and I've never done anything with LRM's before. I'm thinking 4x ALRM-15 or maybe ALRM - 10's. I'd like to have TAG as well (which is a bit of a sacrifice with only two energy hardpoints), but maybe I don't need it? Again, brand new to this LRM thing and any advice would be welcome. So far this is what I have, I haven't even run it yet and it just doesn't feel right.

And yes, the machine gun feels like a waste of a good hardpoint, and I'd really like an XL for some more tonnage, but then space just seems to evaporate.

Take more ammo and front armor. 1080 missiles is OK for LRM40 if you are good at choosing targets. For LRM60, you really need more.

For direct fire setups, try Gauss+2xPPC/2xERLL supported by 4xSSRM2 or 4xLRM5.

No ammo for AMS. Remove that and a single lrm ammo slot and give yourself BAP. Plus, armor up your legs over arms. Same goes to OP, remove MG for BAP and armor.

Ummm, it's an LRM boat, and the Highlander isn't bad for XLs...so why waste all that tonnage on a standard engine?

Because I seem to be running out of space more than I'm running out of tonnage. If you have an idea how to fix that, please help me out! maybe forego the endo-steel?

There is not enough room with an XL. It would work without Artemis.

Highlander 733 Splatlander.

I'm not much for LRM's, this mech can deal mega damage up close.

So here's an idea for a 733 that's a little less of a LRM boat, still super slow and ammo dependent, but with the LBX there's a better chance of kills up close after I soften them up at a distance. What do you guys think, is it better to specialize with LRMs, go Artemis, BAP and TAG, or to generalize - reduce the number of LRMs and have a better back up weapon?

Or maybe this guy for more of that boating flavor...

again, any input is welcome.

Something like this. No AMS, but managed an ER LL for some better defense.
