Can confirm getting command while standing still and with both hands off the keyboard. This isn't always triggered by keystrokes, so I'm calling it a bug.

I've gotten this twice in the last 8 games I've played. Not enough to know if it's related to TAB, but I know I've been typing in team or global chat during the games where it occurred.

Not sure, if does seem to happen when I'm typing "but" not always.

Yup. This is what's happening to me, too, though I can't be sure it's JJs that cause it.

It's happening to me every match, and it's definitely jumpjets that trigger it for me. But now I think I show up as commander for at least some others, even though some can take the command away, because I have encountered other players in games where they have the bug occur, and they show up as commander for me.

Same here - started since the last patch.

I did some further testing on mechs without jumpjets, and just pressing the spacebar (default binding) still triggered the bug. I could not find another key or trigger.

Yeah, jumpjets are certainly one factor.

Pressing "Spacebar" to jump and continuing to hold it grants command. I've tested it and it's repeatable. However you need to be still up in the air holding it for it to work. It won't work once you land.

Again, I've gotten command without using jumpjets, so there's something more out there.

I also had a command one time without doing anything for it. I just see it after death, so I do not have any idea why.

Also getting this pretty regularly, and it seems to be triggered mostly by JJs, but not entirely - I've gotten it a couple of times in mechs without any.

Iv gotten this one twice to my knowledge when using a Griffin so probably jj related, funny enough first time it happend I WAS actually commanding, getting my beta and gamma lance to keep their heads down while alpha was flanking the enemy then we smushed them between us.

I've noticed it happens to me only when I'm using the Steam Overlay frequently. Don't know if it's associated to shift+tab - but that's when I get it most.

I had this as well and my theory as to what triggers it is a high keyfrequency.

Had it with short burst from JJs and pressing W most often, but also at least once by hitting Num0 repeatedly (because sometimes that leads to me not stopping when bringing up the scores, etc)

So it definitely isn't a thing of one specific key or exclusively linked to JJ, but we did know that already

woohoo now I finally got to join this elite club of press-ganged commanders !

Was trying to explain to my team why it is not a good idea to run for the enemy's turrets on crimson strait when suddenly:

*BING* "why am I the commander now?!"

Was about two minutes into the game and I was typing/maneuvering so I can't really tell if it was any specific key.

I also use a Sidewinder X4 and have not had this happen before. I'm using the driver from the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, so the OS recognizes the non-standard keys (media/macros) and their correct functions. I mostly drive the Atlas, but I've dropped several times in a Jenner and Catapult with JJ but never had this issue.

I've also never actually taken commance of a lance or company, so perhaps it has something to do with that (the initial taking command and the database on the backend losing track of whether you should have command or not and making buggy decisions later). Pure speculation; just trying to add my observations to the pot here.
