Yeah they didn't mention that change anywhere so it's easy to miss.

It was a very stupid design decision to rename save as checkout.
Not only are people used to/conditioned to want to "save" something, checkout itself is misleading.
Checkout implies some type of micro-transaction or real currency transaction is being done, which many people DO NOT want to do by accident. So many people looking for "save" will see "checkout" and think "Oh no, I don't want that..."
Also, not to mention on larger TV's/Monitors on high resolutions, the buttons and text DO NOT SCALE, so they are often tiny and hard to notice or in more rare cases even read.
The UI simply put, is shit in its current state.

Try to find out "where" the hardpoints are located on a mech when you go to buy it. -You have to go to the forum patch notes
Try to find out how many heatsinks you have on a mech - You have to count them individually and manually.
Try to find out how many jumpjets you have on a mech - You have to count them individually and manually.
Try to find out the actual range of a weapon - You guess from a chart but you have to go to the forum patch notes
Try to configure a mech that is already selected - you can't, you have to go and re-select it from a list of 87 other mechs
Try to purchase skills of a mech already selected - you can't you have to go and re-select it from a list of 87 other mechs
The list goes on.
My actual play time is down from 15-20 hours a week to 3 just because of the sheer frustration of UI 2.0

Thanks for this thread. I just started playing on UI 2.0 today and I was confused about how to "save" as well.
I agree the change of wording is a bit strange. If I was naturally suspicious I might think its designed to get people to accidentally buy things, because "checkout" no longer looks like a warning.

To clarify for anyone else who might not know where the checkout button is:
Look at the very bottom-left of your screen. There should be a series of small boxes that show information depending on what section of the client you are in.
The base level of info, at your Home tab, shows your Current Battlemech (Variant designation and Name), with a Premium Time box below it.
In the Mechlab tab, they add an MC and C-bill balance below the Premium Time box, and add a Mech Bays box between the Premium Time and Current Battlemech boxes.
Once you enter the Configuration menu, all the boxes except the MC and C-bill balance box are removed, and they add a Cart Total box that shows the MC and C-bill cost of any pending changes to your current configuration. It is here that the Check Out button can be found. You must check out before leaving the Configuration section or else it'll pop up a prompt saying you'll lose any changes if you continue.
I hope the above helps.
